Hey everyone,
I have a season pass setup to record ONLY NEW recordings of Law and Order: CI on USA. For whatever reason my TivoHD still records reruns as well. Any suggestions as to how I can get it to stop doing this?

Same is happening to everyone at this point... USA guide data has become unreliable...
I have decided to just set a manual recurring recording for Thursdays at 7pm Pacific... Fixes it as long as they don't move it...

Oh, great to know it's not just me. Thanks a lot.

The reason for this is that if there is no Guide Data for a specific episode, TiVo has a choice whether to treat it as a new ep or rerun. They decided to play it safe and treat it as a new ep, in order to avoid people potentially missing an episode. Unfortunately, some channels (USA is currently the worst offender) don't provide Guide Data. That wasn't as much of a problem when new episodes were on NBC, but now that both the new eps and scads of reruns are on USA, it's a pretty big PITA. Unfortunately, there's probably nothing to be done about it. If USA were open to suggestions on this issue, they would have fixed it years ago.

Perhaps USA has fixed this, I haven't had issues with it lately.

They have...although I've noticed that this problem tends to come and go.

CSI, the original series set in Las Vegas, is now on cable in reruns, and Law & Order: CI is now on USA, instead of NBC. I have found no way to record only new versions of these shows. My Tivo wants to record all the available showings, unless I manually set the recording time to the one time I know the new show is broadcast. Is there no way to restrict Tivo, so that it would only record CSI from CBS and only record Law & Order first runs? I have gone round and round with Tivo on this, with no success.

A Season Pass will only record on one channel (as opposed to a Wishlist).
As noted above, USA seems to have fixed their Guide Data problems with L&O:CI recently.

OK, I fixed CSI. Thank you.
Now about Land & Order: CI. Tivo wants to record shows on 12/1, 12/3, 12/4, 12/5. 12/6, etc. at 5 am and 8 pm.

Is it still doing it? I.e., for more recent showings?
I know that at some point recently, "new" episodes stopped showing up in my To Do List (except the real ones on Thursday evenings).
Otherwise, it might be a provider issue--I have an S3, so I get my data through TiVo. If you have a DirecTiVo, perhaps there's a problem with DirecTV?

Here's a way to solve this problem:
1) Start creating a wishlist.
2) In the title keywords, list "criminal intent"
3) In the regular keywords, list the episode description for the generic episodes. If this were the Tonight Show, that would be "Jay Leno Interviews celebrities".
4) Go back to the regular keywords and select "Thumbs Down" for the keywords you created in (3)
5) Select "auto record" and "first run only" for your recording options
6) Finish editing your wishlist.
7) Delete your CI season pass.
