poor picture quality

Recently noticed very poor viewing and recording quality on several channels. I assume TiVo related. Friends have said that it is the hard drive. Any thoughts?

It's unlikely that you're seeing problems caused by your hard drive. Hard drive issues affect all of your recordings, not just certain channels.

Tell us more about your setup. Brand/model Tivo? What's your video source (cable, cable box, satellite receiver)? How is everything connected?
