I've been using Desktop for viewing pictures on our S3 via the TiVo wireless adapter and our wireless Netgear router. We continue to have too many issues with staying connected and with poor speed. I've decided to give a wired connection a go.

If I unplug the wireless adapter and use a cat 5 cable to connect the Tivo and our router, will the system be functional or will I need to set up a fresh network connection via the cable?

Thanks,

No setup is required for a wired connection, assuming that your router (or another system on your network) is serving DHCP, as is standard nowadays.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought that was the case but wasn't sure.

I have both wired and wireless connections and I still like wired better. It isnt that hard to run the wire in most situations and the speed is so much better. However, I use the wireless for my laptop so I can use it in different rooms of the house.
