I used to have a Series 2 Tivo in our living room and I canceled it about a year ago. This tivo was named "LivingRoom"
A few months ago we activated a TivoHD and named it "Livingroom".
After the MRV feature was enabled on the TivoHD we decided to re-activate the old series 2 for our bedroom.
Upon activation I renamed the series 2 to "Bedroom".

Now I have some strange Naming problems.
In the now playing list of the LivingRoom DVR "LivingRoom" shows up, but this is actually the "Bedroom" DVR. (Showing up with the old name)
From the Bedroom DVR I see 2 seperate links, one is just called "DVR" and the other says something strange like ".Tivo_Video" Selecting either of these gives me my livingroom playlist.
I can see my computer from both DVRs correctly.
Tivo Desktop correctly identifies both DVRs as "Livingroom" and "Bedroom" respectively.

Does anyone know what is going on here and how I can straighten it out?

Reboot the DVR being shown with the funny name. If you decide to reboot both, do them one at a time, letting the first complete before starting the other.

I'll try that when I get home. Is this a common problem?

No not really. I never saw it before the S3/HD MRV turn-on. It is probably a slight weirdness with the new version.

Should I unplug both units then plug one in and let it fully boot before plugging the other back in?
Or Is it sufficient to just reboot the first one while the 2nd one is still on, then after it is done reboot the second?

I don't think it matters. One poster on the TiVo help forums reported that only rebooting the TiVo HD fixed him up just fine. Another reported the problem for him was caused by rebooting two TiVos at the same time. So I Just suggest restarting both such that they aren't coming up at the same time. My guess is that the one displaying the double listing is querying the other before it is fully stable.

I seem to have the same issues as adessmith. I have multiple Series 2 Tivo's. I just got a Series 3. I moved two Tivo's to other locations in the house and renamed them online through "Manage My Account". The two Tivo's show the name change in the System Information screen, but when looking at the Now Playing list on all of the Tivos, you still see the old names of these DVR's. I've tried rebooting all Tivos, rebooting my router, and re-saving the online preferences, all with no luck. Its been about 5 days now and the units have made its daily updates. Any other ideas?

Nevermind, I think resetting all Tivos might have actually worked! Thanks for the info posted above.
