Hi folks. I have a Hughes HDVR2. This morning the machine went dead. I try everything and call Directv which they will be happy to replace mine. However, I have over 100 hours of show in there, is there anyway to extract them from the drive? Thanks.

Do you get a Powering up message on the screen? Are the front panel leds lit? you may just need a new hard drive. In all likelyhood the programs are gone if you did not back them up. :)

Thanks for the quick reply. This morning when I was watching a recording, in the front of the machine, the red and green light start flashing on and off. The screen went black and it never recover. It won't response to any button or remote, unplugging the power supply doesn't help. I took out the upgraded hard drive and put back in the original, it is the same thing. The screen will show the "Welcome. Powering up .." for a few second and then went black and the light in front will flash again. If I unplug the hard drive, it will stop flashing though. Anything I can try to make sure if it is dead or not?
Also, I did intall kmem and ty tools on the hard drive couple years ago but never extract anything. Is it possible to extract it now without the tvio unit?

Thanks.
