Home Media Option - Series 3 or HD

I have 2 Series 2 Units with the Home Media Option enabled. I use all of the features. i.e., Stream Music from my PC, Send programs that have been recorded on one Tivo to the other Tivo or to my PC, Retrieve programs from my PC back to the Tivo, make DVD's of programs on my PC, etc., etc.

I am considering upgrading to HD with a new Tivo Series 3 or HD Unit.

Will I still be able to use all of the Home Media Option features with the new Series 3 or HD unit? I have heard that the answer may be no????

As far as I know, both the Series 3 and the HD can handle all the tasks you've listed.

Any series 2 or series 3/Tivo HD can do all of the HMO stuff now for free.

S3/THD units need the 9.x software to use MRV & TTG, so it won't work out of the box. Add your system to the priority list though and you should get it within a couple days.

To clarify further, all they need is the 9.1 software for MRV and TTG. They don't need the 9.2 beta software for those.

I just set up and activated a TiVo HD.
It came with 8.3 and upgraded to 9.1 shortly after I activated it.

Then it sounds as if 9.1 has gone GA and 9.2 is still limited to the priority list.

The wikipedia article on the Tivo S3 still says that Home Media Options are disabled.

Someone should edit that...
