Last night I experienced the strangest thing and I couldn't figure out what was causing it.

There's the yellow power light, the two red lights for recording on each tuner and last night there was a blue light right next to it.

What's it for/mean?

The blue light is for transfers.

Either your TiVo was downloading TiVoCast/Amazon Unbox content, or you were transferring a recording to it from another box via MRV.

Look in your NPL ... the "transferring" show will have a blue dot next to it.

That's a problem with all blue LEDs. When I was using Netgear WG111s on my TiVo boxes I had to use the electrical tape solution.

Rather than taping your new THD, you could just turn off the LEDs under Settings -> Displays.

Black tape? On my pretty Series3? Bah! Never!

And yes, I like the blue light. It's pretty. Oooh, blue light...

When you are doing the much needed internal hard drive upgrade, pull the blue LED back a bit. I haven't looked at myself (I thinks blue light is cool) but typically led's are held in by a plastic clip.
