Maybe it has been doing this all along, but I have recently noticed that my Series 3 will have a bright blue light go on (to the right of the red "recording") lights, and then go off relatively quickly. What does that light signify/do?

It tells you that there is something being received over the network interface. TiVoCast, Unbox, MRV transfers. Anything that is moving across the network causes the blue light to come on. Anything except for daily service calls that is.

It indicates that your S3 has connected to the TiVo service and is downloading something. Do you subscribe to any TiVoCasts?

The Onion stuff is so funny. A little 3-4 minute chuckle before going to sleep is always welcome.
If you like technology, and news about it, CrankyGeeks is good. Once you get past the old "cable access channel style" of presentation, the content discussed is very interesting.

The manual that came with your Tivo explains this, that is what the manual is for. :)

When I first saw this blue indicator LED I figured an HD program was recording, little did I realize it was just one of those TivoCast recording, duh ?

It also indicates any material coming in over your home network, i.e. transferring shows from desktop to TiVo

It's hidden in the appendix. Nobody read the appendix.
