FWIW. It doesn't claim to be any more than a rumor, but I don't I've even heard any rumors about this coming out on DVD until now.

This is by far my most wished-for show or movie that isn't out on DVD yet, especially given how little it's on in syndication. It hasn't been on any channel that DirecTV carries, to my knowledge, for at least a few years.

Not on Nick at Nite in the last few years??
(not that I pay that much attention to that channel any more, but I would have expected it would have been there not too long ago...)

My most requested (besides a pristine version of WKRP in Cincy) would be The Paper Chase. Nary a peep about that one. Heck, I'd be glad to see it show up on Nick at Nite or similar too.

Nope... I check every few months to see if it's in the guide, and it's been a LONG time since I've found it. Last time I remember it, I think it was on the Hallmark Channel, IIRC. I'm not positive of that, but it was definitely not one of the channels you'd expect, like Nick at Nite or TV Land.

Actually - the rumor I heard was they weren't going to release Newhart until The Bob Newhart show was all released and I think that's only up to season 4?

But if someone was smart they would get those DVD xtra's before anyone else kicks the bucket :(

This would be terrific news! I have an old, poor quality VHS of two scenes from that show:

* - When Dick started hosting the "Vermont Today" showand instead of the President of the University of Vermont as his guest, they got "The World's Smallest Horse". The whole thing deteriorated into a circus, which is where Bob Newhart was at his best.

* - When Dick met two guys who golfed and agreed to to golfing with his new friends. They gambled and although he was uncomfortable with it, he took all their money. When he felt bad, he decided to "let" them win it back at cards, finally resorting to a series of double or nothing "high card wins". He kept winning at that until they owed him like $ 50K before finally losing and getting back to even. Watching him squirm and his clueless friends panic was classic TV.

Hey... What about full episodes of the Carol Burnett Show? I'd buy complete seasons of that just to watch Tim Conway crack up Harvey Korman!

Wow, I remember both of those episodes. He ALWAYS wanted the President of the University of Vermont. I remember when they finally got him, Dick and Joanna had either the measles or chickenpox or something, and Michael had - I want to say, Binky the Clown? - fill in as guest host.

The first one was really early, I think from the first season. IIRC, I can picture it and it was shot on videotape. I believe they went to film starting with the 2nd season. But yeah, that was great. I remember they other guys were terrible. They'd fold any time Dick bet. When they did high card, they'd pull and king and he'd pull an ace. He couldn't lose.

Same here - guess I'll be ordering two of each season. If they put them out twice a year, I'm set for Christmas and either birthday or Father's Day, through 2011.

On a similar note, the Batman TV series from the 60s with Adam West has finally appeared on DVD. See http://www.rememberthatshow.tv/store/product.php?productid=2

I know a lot of people think it's cheesy, but the show I wish for the most on DVD is My Three Sons.

For several years back in the 80s I used to watch that show every morning on TBS before I went to work. I really enjoyed it. I don't think its been back on TV anywhere since then.

Anyone else get this yet? Mine arrived last week and I've watched the first few episodes. I'm surprised how well I remember them. Most of the episodes I can remember seeing multiple times in repeats are not from the first season, which stands out so easily from the filmed seasons. It's good though. I don't think the show would have been what it was without Michael and Stephanie, but Kirk and Leslie were good in their own way.

Just waiting for a release date on season 2 now.

Newhart's last ep still ranks as my favorite ending ever to a sitcom...

Same here...I hope the DVD has a segment or at least a commentary track on the genesis and execution of that idea.

You can get a lot of the above named 70's and 80's shows on ALN (I get it on cable).

OK, got me! :)

I'm reading through the thread, taking in what's being said, then I get to the post about it being released February 26th. Ah - resurrected thread.

I thought the Kirk character was pretty funny, Steve Kampmann hasn't done much since then.

I don't think the show would have been what it was without Michael and Stephanie...or without Larry, his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl. I always loved their characters. So surreal.

But those are 'best of' type dvd's, not actual episodes.
