Pretty good show tonight. It was good to hear the full versions of many of the bands' singles.

Right now I've got that Sixwire song (Good to Be Back) stuck in my head. Definitely has "single" potential. :)

I liked Franklin Bridge's Dylan number a lot. I didn't agree with the British Judge (Dicko? ) that their Bob Dylan arrangement was "bad". I liked it and thought it was a very original take on the song.

I think Franklin Bridge has the most original sound, but I think Sixwire has the most potential. If they win (or whoever wins) it's going to make their careers. There's quite a few interesting and good bands in there. I like the diversity. Any one know if they are having eliminations every week like they do on American Idol or is this another format? I never caught that part...

Side Note: I put "spoilers" just to CMA in case this thread carries over to another week.

This show is so much better than Idol.

The bands that stick out in my head are Clark Brothers, Franklin Bridge, Sixwire, The Muggs, The Likes of You, and Old No. 7.

Maybe some of the other bands will pick it up next episode, but they have got a lot of work to do.

I had really high hopes for this show. I know it's an AI clone but I thought we were going to see some "real" bands and not this over produced bubble gum nonsense.

Franklin Bridge sounded good? You're kidding, right? Gotta love a lead singer that uses a guitar as a prop. He wasn't even playing it. Worse than lip syncing if you ask me.

The only two bands that really were original tonight were Light of Doom and Tres Bein. Light of Doom was so good I couldn't even believe it was possible that they were really playing...but they were.

My wife tells me that my biggest problem is that all this time I thought the show title was "The Next Great American Rock Band".

I still like the Clarke Brothers, The Muggs and the Old Number 7 guys but I cringed as I searched for the FF when it came to everyone else.

I found the lead singer of the Hatch to be very annoying.

I think I would actually by a cd put out by The Likes of You. There maybe better bands in the competition, but they fit my tastes the best.

Rocket sounded like they came right off the soundtrack of a teeny-bopper movie. There were nice to look at, but that's about it.

Overall, I haven't seen anybody would would fit the title,"The Next Great American Band," on this show.

I have to say that I'm glad the judges told Light of Doom to put their shirts on.

The Likes of You sounded good to me.

Rocket looked and sounded like they belonged in an 80s movie.

I still really like Old #7. :)

The Clarke Brothers are really good, and I like them a lot!

Franklin Bridge was a mess. I don't get everyone's fascination with them.

Sixwire is still my favorite. Partly because I love that type of music, but also because they were tight, had a good version of the Dylan song and a good original. I could imagine buying both of those singles.

I think you forgot to put in the sarcastic smilie here, right?

Granted, they did pretty good considering their ages, but IMO they are nowhere near good enough to get signed.
Maybe after they get some 'man hair'. :D
Some guys I know who get together and 'jam' once every blue moon sound better than these guys.

I hate to ask but anyone have a source for this?

My DirecTV HR20 took a dump on me this weekend because I was testing some new software. Long story short, I lost 750 gigs of tv shows. Suprisingly, not that big of a deal. Between the network websites and other avenues, I have been able to get my hands on everything I really wanted to see.. except for this one. Usenet, torrents, nothing nada zilch zippo.

So if anyone has a lead for this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey bareyb,

Just my $.02.....but I would put the original air date into your thread to help identify which week it is from.......

I'm enjoying the show a lot. I find that, while I don't necessarily like all the bands, they all seem worthy and not plastic bubble gum at all. I don't like Light Of Doom at all, they are just a gimmick and sadly Rocket (nice bunch of girls) are rather weak as are the band with the female bassist. But outside of them there are some very appealing bands.

I completely forgot about this week's episode.
Apparently there's no demand for the show out in Torrentville.

I will say that I most likely won't watch anymore once Light Of Doom are gone. Those kids tear it up.

Anyone else think the Muggs singer sounds like Bon Scott?

I am missing this. I have two solid hours of TV shows against it that I really enjoy and no second tuner. I hope there is a source for this.

Don't get the Franklin Bridge love? Light of Doom are only here for the "awwww, how cute" factor. Rocket is an 80's joke, right?

Love the talent of the Clarke Brothers and Sixwire.

No torrents out there that I can find but youtube has clips of each performance plus judges comments. Just watch them one right after the other and you'll have an almost complete show.

Agree 100%! I don't get the "Light of Doom" love. Those kids are a decent garage band. Nothing more and nothing less than I've heard before. They don't hold a candle to most of the other "top twelve" although they ARE good for THEIR AGE. If these guys were in their late 20's they'd have never made the cut. The musicianship and versatility just isn't there so I don't see them doing well with the "themes".

Franklin Bridge is amazing. Especially the drummer. Wow. The lead guitar player was not "faking it". He was playing it. Little too much "fuzz" for my taste, but I think he was going for the "Prince sound".

Sixwire has my heart. I want those guys to get the recognition they deserve! These guys have talent. And they also have families. I'm rooting for them big time. Here's a Youtube video link to their segment on the show. You be the judge!

I'd argue that Light Of Doom has more musicianship than the other coffee-house wanna-bes that filled up the show.
Granted, I only saw the very first episode.

I thought Light of Doom sounded better in the first episode than in the second one.

They kind of lost it in the second episode. They sounded much better in the debut. They are "good" and I agree MUCH better than any of the bands that didn't make it. But of the bands that made the show (top twelve) I just wasn't they into them after I saw them again. Lots of mistakes on guitars and the vocals were all over the place. Still, as I said, amazing for their age, but I don't think they have a prayer of winning. There are some seriously tight bands in this thing.

I'm surprised they could find so much decent talent in so many different styles. Just about every band is "good" in their own way. While I'm not a huge fan of bluegrass music, I can certainly appreciate the talent in that bluegrass band. Can't remember their names but I was very entertained. Same with the nostalgia type bands. They found a good representation of a few different genres.

While there were a few spots in each song where he didn't play, he played for the majority of both songs and had a solo in each one.

I am missing this. I have two solid hours of TV shows against it that I really enjoy and no second tuner. Ah, the advantages of having four HD tuners sitting in the living room. ;) We record three other programs Friday 9PM, but have that one extra tuner so we're going to add this starting this week.

Light of Doom was the only band to give me goose bumps - Outside of the hair waving and the shirtless teenager look, I thought their music was pertty good, the guitar playing was amazing (at least according to my son who is a pretty good player on his own).

If they only had a singer :) the lead vocal was alright but not up to where it would need to be to be a great band. All he needs is some time ot mature.

I hope they stick around for a few weeks.

I like most of the bands in one way or another. I am mostly impressed with how tight many of them sound.

I would still choose Denver and the Mile High bunch as my pick just from personal taste but several of the others are worthy of winning. There is a much deeper talent pool here than I would have expected.

When we see who the first two bands eliminated are I think it might give us a hint to the type band "Ameriker" will choose, though. I'd be very surprised if a country band (Six Wire, No. 7, Clark Bro's) went all the way. Tween girls are the most prolific voters so I'd expect bands with a pretty boy front man (or anywhere in the band really) to do well. That eliminates The Muggs (too bad) and bodes well for The Hatch and maybe Tres Bien and Dot Dot Dot.

Chick band (Rocket) and falsetto yodeling bald guy band (The Likes of You) can go first if you ask me.

It's a fun show!
I just wish I could mix and match bands and frontmen.
