The girl who was always changing costumes -- is she supposed to be Mary's replacement?
Looked like the role that Nikki would have done.

Yes, Piper is the new Mary. Serves as the concierge.
Loved the throwaway line about the "British billionaire." Higgins, I presume? (Or should I say Robin Masters?)

yes wasnt it wonderful the way they integrated all the old crap into the new? So graceful and unforced. I wonder if it was in tom's contract or if it was the producer's idea? It's sorta sad to me when i see the 'stars' and that they are getting older just like me. ;) But they are people too.
the coin thing was too much...being handled in no protection and him keeping his collection in a wooden drawer with a 'secure' lock. Um..wood is pretty ez to get into. (unless it was steel reinforced lol)
The costumes were very annoying. I thought the blob that one time.
Until this reminder, i totally forgot about mary. Just happy the Nine girl is in this.

Hell of a roundabout way to get that coin.
(1) Find out that Sam's the owner of the 1895 Morgan dollar.
(2) Buy the Montecito -- from Sam.
(3) Disrupt her casino host business just in time for her to want to buy into his poker game.
(4) Know her well enough to know that she'd stake her lucky dollar.
(5) Come up with a pretend tell to fool her.
(6) Actually come up with a straight flush to beat her four queens.

Just started watching..cannot believe they brought the cast back together! Can you explain for someone who just jumped into this show this year?
I've discovered Las Vegas the way I did The West Wing. I joined that show really late, then enjoyed watching them in syndication. I'm loving 6 new-to-me episodes a week (5 on TNT, 1 on NBC)... And they just reset with the pilot last Thursday.
It's cool to see how much the show has changed, how the location of the Montecito has changed and to spot filming locales. A lot of the early episodes I've seen so far were shot at Mandalay Bay. Parts of the new episode from 10/26 were shot upstairs at Planet Hollywood. I was just there 3 weeks ago. :D
Yes, Piper is the new Mary.Despised her character on The Nine. Don't like her here because of it. Not fair to the actress, but thems the breaks.

(unless it was steel reinforced lol)It looked like a metal box inside the wooden cabinet... Like the electronic keypad hotel room safes found inside wardrobe cabinets.

bringing back the magnum PI cast on just the early part of magnums start on this show this year. I could see it as a sweeps stunt, but not just plain ole part of the show.

Oh... Magnum's old friends/poker buddies were from Magnum PI? I never watched, so that was lost on me. That is cool though.
Unrelated, I hope no one close to Steve Fossett was watching. Ouch!

I was surprised that the producers couldn't get John Hillerman (Higgins on Magnum PI) to appear with the others, and thought he might show up in the show after they made the comment about the "British Millionaire" who wasn't there. I know he is retired from the business. It would of been great to have seen all 4 together again.

That is a mean way to fill his coin book. I liked him as the owner till he pulled that scam against Sam.

I like him more as an owner after he pulled that off; it wasn't a scam, though. It was misdirection used against a too-sure-of-herself Sam. Sam tried to play him and was so cocksure she was blind to the possibility someone else might be sending false signals intentionally.

Lots of misdirection this episode.
Can't explain why I like this show so much but I do... and I like this season better than last season. Piper or whatever is much better than Mary... and I am liking Selleck of Caan at this point. I think at the end I was tired of Jimmy.
And ignoring how hot Vanessa Marcil is, I just love her character on the show.

I am amazed at how much better this year is than last. I thought they pretty much killed it off with last years silly plots but the changes have really helped out. I could do with less goofy baby stuff but Selleck is a great addition. I like him much better than JC.

Nice to let the actors keep their first names. Larry and Roger.

Who plays 5 card stud anyway? That was the most unrealistic poker since the last hand of "The Cincinatti Kid."
Get the guys who did Rounders and Tilt to write poker scenes for ANYTHING.

5 card draw but yeah... nobody seems to be able to write poker.
It's especially bad now that there's so much real poker on TV that even non-players have a basis for comparison and can tell how bad it is.
All the string bets were driving me crazy! :)
