A friend of mine wants to give me her lifetime series 2 tivo to use in my home until I get a second tivoHD. I really dislike the Verizon DVR I have now and I'd like to have a tivo-based solution until I'm ready to bite on a second tivo.

She intends to give it to me permanently, but _I_ would like to give it back to her once I've gotten the new tivo--she can use it to do MRV with her existing tivos. It's only fair.

Of course, while I have it, I'd like to do the same, especially now that TivoHD can be used with MRV, but that necessitates transferring the machine from her account to mine. When I'm ready to return it, I'd like to give it back and put it back on her account. If I can't do that, then I won't bother changing accounts and just won't use it with MRV.

So--does anybody have any information as to whether or not a tivo machine can be moved between two accounts and back again?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer to that question, but you could use a PC to "launder" the .tivo files between the two. ;)

Just need to remove the encryption form the files (and possible change your MAK in TivoDesktop each time-- or use something else like pyTivo or Tivo.Net to do the transfer)

What Should I Do If I Sell or Give Away My DVR?(click here) (http://customersupport.tivo.com/LaunchContent.aspx?CID=1c295ac6-10f0-4ab6-9584-df84fe352d9e)

"... Product Lifetime Service accompanies the DVR, not the owner. If you sold or gave away a DVR that has Product Lifetime Service, either you or the new owner must contact Customer Support to transfer the service to the new owner...."

And there's probably no reason it can't be re-transferred back to the first owner.
