I don't think we talk about this show nearly enough.
I think Alec Baldwin earned his Emmy nomination already with the scene where he role-played Tracy Morgan's family. That was the single funniest thing I've seen all year. It's the first time in a long time that I actually had to pause the show because I was laughing so hard!

"Help me Liz Lemmon, you're my only hope."
And yes, that scene with Alec Baldwin and Tracy was a SCREAM!

I watched it 3 times in a row and I am keeping it on the DVR.

I wonder if we'll see the Followship Award in Liz Lemon's office in later episodes.

+1
I couldn't stop laughing either.
What added to the humor is that Baldwin's impression of Tracy's dad was Fred Sanford, and Tracy never called him on it. Then when Baldwin did the impression of a white guy, Tracy said, "Hey now, let's not get into any sterotypes." :D

my 2nd favorite comedy....just after "the office." now that i think of it, the only other comedy i watch is "how i married your mother".

I could hear a bit of his Tony Bennett in there as well. That scene was genius :D

He earned his Emmy nom already. Big time.'Earn it' he did. When you rewatch the scene, he has a pretty good sheen of sweat on neck. He was working it pretty hard for that scene.

Carrie Fisher was also great in this episode.
"It's called Little Chechnya."
"Is that guy carrying an assault rifle?"
"Yeah but don't worry. He's not a cop."
"C'mon, it's the '90s!" :D

"Never go with a hippie to a second location."
That made laugh harder than I've laughed in quite some time.

Agree with everyone that Alec Baldwin's impressions are hilarious. He was recently on "Inside the Actor's Studio" and was very entertaining!! Did lots more impressions, including Al Pacino and Marlon Brando. Check your TiVo for repeats - you won't be disappointed!

Fast becoming my 2nd favorite show, and Thursday night is again "must see TV".
My husband goes to sleep too early to watch at air time so as we sat down to watch it together (me for the 2nd time) I told him "Come see Alec Baldwin win an Emmy".

I was never really much of an Alec Baldwin fan and the thought of him doing comedy was a bit bizarre to me. But I have to say, that scene with Tracey was DA BOMB! it's got Emmy written all over it.

I agree we should talk about this show more. It's under appreciated. The writing is sharp, and it's just plain consistently funny. When I sit down to watch my TiVo, I always watch this show first.

You must not have watched him the many times he hosted SNL then. They were consistently the funniest episodes of the last 5+ years.

Yeah, that was funny.
And those voices from Alex. I was stunned. Was that really him?

Alec Baldwin has to be one of the funniest straight men in a long time, any comedy he is in he just kills me!
Fun with Dick and Jane, and Along Came Polly

shouldn't that be a smiley icon at the end? are you seriously mad? "Straight man" refers to the character that sets up the jokes, the partner typically rolls with the joke.

I'll say.
Then again, maybe he's demonstrating by playing the role of a straight-man. In which case he's absolutely brilliant.
But I wouldn't put money on that. :)

I predicted that line as soon as I realized it was Carrie Fisher playing the old writer.

I am so glad I stuck with this show after the first couple of episodes last season which I thought were so so, but the show gets funnier and funnier every week, and between this, Scurbs and Earl (I'm not a bit The Office fan because I have a hard time NOT comparing it to the Brit version witch we a whole lot funnier), Thursday nights are back on stride for NBC. Now if more people would realize this and stop watching the same old cop shows that are on 20 times a week (yeah YOU CSI!), the shows would be top 10 in ratings!!
