TIVOs renewing IP every 5 seconds

Both TIVOs are wired...direct connection to the DLink router. Every device on the network is using DHCP including an XBox, XBox 360 and three PCs and they are happy with the reservations given them; only the TIVOs keep requesting. Oddly enough, both TIVOs are downloading their programming fine.

I'm a certified network administrator so I'm pretty confident in my network setup - nothing fancy going on here.

Any ideas?

What is your router's IP lease time? It seems that whatever it is, Tivo interprets it as zero and asks for a new IP immediately. Try changing it to some other value and see if that changes your Tivo's behavior.

Alternatively, configure the Tivo with a static IP address. That's what I do with every networked device that is always on the network.

I'm with borabora - I've had much more stable operation with all my TiVos using static IPs.
