Remote slow to respond

I'll start with that I have spoken to customer service and have bought a new remote. They seem to think that will stop my problem. But I was curious if anyone else had this problem.
When scrolling my playing list...the remote will not stop once you hit select it will keep going until it hits the first tv show ..or when you scroll down it will scroll to the bottom and stay there. This is also happening in the guide..it just won' t let you pick what you want..it will stop eventually once it catches up.

Anyone ever have this problem and how did you fix? Is it really the remote? or a much worse problem?

You could try a new guided setup - sometimes this fixes all kinds of strange problems.

Unfortunately for me, when this started happening, it turned out the hard drive was going. It just got worse and worse until it started to actually freeze the Tivo. Is yours getting old? (mine was about 5 years old when it happened)
