OK... I'm sorry if this is the wrong spot or if they has been answered before (I did search and couldn't find it) but I thought this might be the only place I can find an answer to my issue...

I have a tivo (series 2) which as far as I can tell has a usb port... I have a laptop with a DVD recorder... what I want to do is be able to transfer something from my now playing list to my laptop so that I can get it on a DVD... I'm sure this should be possible but I have no idea who or what to do... Normally it wouldn't be an issue but I have a friend serving in Iraq right now who I record things for and send them to her, she would prefer DVD and I'd like to be able to make the switch from VHS to DVD... can anyone help?

Again sorry if this is somewhere else on the board.
Thank you - Karen N

This is the specific forum you should start in.
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=8

This requires some modifications to the TiVo.

The absolute simplest, least technical method would be to buy a DVD recorder. They're $100 or less these days at any box store (target, walmart, etc.).

If you already have the necessary networking equipment, you may tryTivo Desktop (http://tivo.com/desktop) but you will need to buy a USB network adapter for the Tivo to use this and learn a bit about how to configure a network.
