Man, I hate to refer to a 10-year old girl using certain words, but I think it's totally deserved in this case. Taylor is the epitome of everything I hope my daughter doesn't grow up to be.
This show just keeps getting better and better; I think this was the best episode yet.

I was surprised it took this long for a thread. :)
I was hoping that Taylor would leave already.
Does anyone think that at some point they will have established laws or will the whole season go on a case-by-case basis?
Laurel continues to show outstanding leadership skills, in my book. I really hope she can get something in the end for all the hard work she is doing.
And for the record our kiddo wanted the go karts. ;)

I'm liking taylor as a character. This show would be so boring without her. Plus, she exposes major flaws with the structure of this program, because they don't ever actually punish her. As annoying as she is in the context of the show, she's not really all that different than many "normal" kids.

I think we're going to start seeing the punishment soon. Zach made it clear - unless she's working, he's not going to pay her. If she doesn't get paid, she doesn't get to buy sodas at the Saloon, etc. And she's become increasingly ostracized from the group - the only people left on her side are her two little soldiers, and even they were unwilling to join her defiant work protest.

Makes sense to withold payment. Your group competes in a challenge, becomes whatever class, has to do cooking, laborers, whatever. If you sit around not doing anything, the district leader should not pay you. They use the money to buy extras, fun stuff. It's not like they have to buy food, heat, water, etc.

I said the same thing to my wife last night.

The sad part is I can just see her watching this with her parents and her mother laughing and saying "good for you" when she says that prom queens don't do dishes, etc. Actually, I assume she is only watching with her mother and her whipped father is in the kitchen doing their dishes.

Was anyone else half expecting the town to construct a makeshift jail and throw Taylor in it? It'll be interesting to see if that happens in a future episode.

Can't they just dig another pit next to the garbage and throw her in there?? :p

Fruits and Veggies OR........DUNE BUGGIES!!!!
Yeah, the problem with the dune buggies is that there were only two, so the kids would be fighting over who got to ride in them.

And I am happy Dk stayed, he almost made the dumbest decision of his life. :D :)
You can only hope that Taylor's parents will take this as a wake up call, instead of thinking it's cute.
Can the council leaders ever get the gold star or some other special bonus? I think Laurel ought to get a chance to get rewarded at some point.

I agree. I think it's awesome how strong she is even if her beliefs are misguided. I didn't like the the way the other kids were "picking on her" though. Singling her out and giving her "special jobs" that were designed to "punish her". She's a pain, but doing that to her seems petty and vindictive. The kid obviously has some "entitlement issues" but I don't think they are going to get very far with her (as they found out) with that approach. She will simply just "leave" if they pressure her too much and the show will suffer from that. I like Taylor. I would hate for my daughter to act like her, but I don't think she is "really" a bad kid. I'm guessing she's just been too sheltered and has spent way too much time with adults. She's a smart one though, and I have hope for her. I'm fascinated to see what Taylor will do next. This is by far my winner this season for "the show that I almost overlooked" prize. :)

That will NEVER happen. They will never give the kids that much power. In point of fact, I thought it was totally out of line for Anjay to be blocking the door when Taylor was trying to leave. That crosses the line. He had no right to do that to her. In "real life" if somebody does a crappy job they get fired (don't get paid). That's the only recourse they should have and it's the appropriate one. In my opinion. :)

Blame the parents for Taylor's behaviour. She's only acting the way she was brought up. Her parents should be real proud ;)

Taylor has some child-rearing issues, but if I was getting ganged up on like they were contantly ganging up on her, I'd have been just as livid as her. That whole scene where she freaked out and kicked Anjay, etc... I was actually on her side for a brief moment. They're not going to get her to change by coming at her with pitchforks and a mob mentality. That's just going to make her (and me) even *more* defensive / defiant which is what happened.

I think witholding pay is perfect. She's not doing any work, she shouldn't get paid. Everyone else is busting their butts because they have an understanding of what KN is about...working TOGETHER to build a better place.
There needs to be some sort of exile island or something. A place to send her where she HAS to do things on her own: make her own food, clean up her own messes, etc.
This was on of the better episodes to be sure. DK on the verge of leaving shocked me somewhat. Guylan stepped up as a leader right then and there. Do you think that the producers had to tell Guylan that he absolutely could not mention the possibility of a gold star to DK as a means to get him to stay?
It will be interesting to see what happens if Zach does indeed withhold Taylors pay. It is really the only recourse left to him.
As for the council members and earning stars - I have been singing Laurels praises since the first episode and I really believe she deserves it. I have to wonder if there is special compensation for any council member who keeps their post for the entire run of the show. She also was very lucky or is an incredibly good judge of character based on her teams makeup.
Speaking of Gold stars, I began wondering if Blaine will ever be put up for one? He has been nothing more than Greg's shadow so far but I did think to myself that every dirty job that we see Greg doing Blaine is usually right there with him.
I must admit that I absolutely love this show, and this is from someone who watches almost no reality tv as a general rule.

Previews seem to indicate that money will play a large role in next week's episode, so I imagine that's what he'll do.

I thought at first, when they were approaching Taylor with the buckets that they were going to pour something on her.
I hate this show, but I can't keep myself from watching it. Every week, I try to talk myself into cancelling my season pass.

We love this show!
Last night my 6 year old said, "Wow, I am so glad Taylor is not in our family!"
My response was, "Do you really think she would act like that if she was in our family?"
All my kids responses: "NO WAY!"

Guylan: "DK, there are 20,000 reasons you shouldn't leave..."
I too like Taylor. The pouting, the funny blurted out defensive remarks. The looking like she's finally helping then dumping out the water. Little brat, but good entertainment.
Withhold her dime -- big freakin' deal. Her buds will buy her a soda.
Good call on not getting the dune buggies. As said above, the sharing would be tough. And kids would ride them at night and wake people up. It would be a mess.
I too have been thinking Blaine should get some star recognition soon. Not only does he lift and carry and such but I see him in the background cheering on his team and being a good guy.

I don't think so. They've already proven that they're not willing to take part in her "strike," so I think Taylor's reign over her little group is coming to an end.

I dunno... Lily skipped out on all the trash hauling but went up and took 5 minutes with the shovel.
I think she's still buds with Taylor. And there was another girl too. I think she'll retain her gang, but we'll see...

She'll be fine.

Wow, the greatest episode left. I had a feeling toward the end that DK would raise his hand. I've said from the beginning, I like that kid and he should have run for the council. He really showed his abilities this episode. I thought it was a bit unorthodox for Guylan to talk with him privately, but it worked. I'm almost positive the producers told him to keep quiet on the whole star thing, but you have to believe that Guylan gave him some sort of hint off camera. In any event, Guylan turned out to have some leadership abilities after all; I'm proud of him.
It's something about that red team; it's a great group! (and my favorite color, and DK is from my hometown, lol). I guess I'm drinking the red Kool-aid...sue me!
Taylor sucks, but without her it would have been boring. Greg has calmed down so we needed another villain. There will be another "special" villain next week which will definitely be interesting.

I'm glad DK did stay, but the whole leaving thing seemed like it was a cry for "change". Once he got some reassurance that people would try harder he seemed like it didn't take much to talk him out of it. I'm not sure he actually wanted to leave as much as he wanted things to change and threatening to leave was what he felt he had to do to make that happen.

We have three boys. We don't really "do drama" at our house. :)
I'm pretty sure Taylor is acting this way because either her parents and/or her pageant coach told her to: "Honey, just do whatever it takes to get more screen time!"

But is that going to do as much for her career as the infamous interview by that Teen Pageant Queen who couldn't coherently answer a question?
FMP to read "couldn't" coherently answer a question.

Well all the kids are reportedly gifted.
So Taylor's got the trifecta: Beauty, Brains and 'tude.

If the kids were really smart, they would shun Taylor instead of badgering her. Being ignored would hurt her more than anything.
Every week I'm amazed at how much I like this show.

Yeah, she's going to grow up to look like Missy Peregrym from 'The Reaper', maybe become Miss USA, and because of her looks guys will be falling all over her despite the 'tude.

I have twin 10 year olds who really liked Taylor the first week and rooted for her being the youingest Council member and all.
They have been upset with her for weeks now and actually cheered when she was voted out. This may not be the greatest show on TV, but my kids actually have me pause so they can discuss what's going on each week ( their idea ).
I am all for that.
