Well....6-8 hrs after a frustrating experience with Linux, PATA port shortages, 3 trips to frys.....etc.....

DONT USE LINUX!

Use your normal Windows XP (SP 2 or later) or updated Windows 2000, and follow this guide http://www.mfslive.org/winmfs/quickstart.htm piece of cake! Just set your original tivo drive to Master, new to slave, and boot in windows....fire up the program, and let it go!

1 hr instead of complex frustration through linux.

Have fun! 80 upgraded to 500gb! WOOHOO!

Will that method work in Windows Vista?

Yes - just used it on Vista on my series 2 DT a couple of days ago.

There are instructions on the site as to which versions of Windows will work with it.

I tried to register yesterday at mfslive but have not received the confirmation email. I also emailed mfslive but have not had a reply yet.

How long should it take to get the email confirmation? I don't want to keep emailing them if a delay for the confirmation is normal.

I had wanted to do my upgrade this weekend but now it looks like it may be at least Monday before I am able to get winmfs.
