MRV Issue on S3 (9.2) and THD (9.1)

Just trying out MRV but I am having no luck.

Setup Description:

S3 - 9.2j Firmware/software
THD - 9.1 Firmware/software
Linksys Gigabit Network switch

I enabled the video transfer on both Tivo's and see a,a,a on the System Info on both Tivos.

I can access both Tivo's Https interface and download files off there.

MRV ISSUE:

From the S3 Tivo I can see the THD and it'll list all the shows on there. If I transfer one, the blue light on the S3 goes on for about 3 seconds and then turns off. Then a msgbox comes up stating to look at the "View History...". Upon checking there the tivo says:

"This program was not transferred onto this DVR because the program was recorded in an unknown format"

The same applies when I try to view an video on the THD from the S3.

Could this be a version issue?

Also while I am at it. I d/led an HD video from my tivo and I get Video but no Audio. I think I am missing a codec. What is the codec for Audio on HD Tivo?

Could this be a version issue?It could be. Be sure to request 9.2 on your TivoHD if you have not already.

Check in account and system information and see if you have a media access key. If not.. force a connection and see if it resolves it. Or just force connections anyway and see what happens.... ;)

Yes I have a MAK on both units.

I was having the same problem for several hours today on my S3 and THD transfers (both 9.1). I forced a connection several times and eventually the DVR names showed up in the System Info screen, and the problem went away.

can't imagine the connection, but all is well now.

That could be it. My S3 on the TivoDesktop shows up like DVR-2342...#s arent real...but something like that

I had the same problem early this morning. Came back in the afternoon, connected to TiVo servers, and the problem was fixed.

I still haven't gotten any DVR names to show up on the TiVos.I forced a call then restarted my 3 Tivo HDs once the name showed up in the "System Information" page to get names to show up in the "Now Playing" screen.

S3 with 9.2J, DVR Name under System Information screen is "Series 3" - my name from tivo.com/mma
THD with 9.2J, DVR Name under System Information screen is <Name this DVR on tivo.com>

From either one, I can see the other TiVo, select a recording and try to transfer it. It fails ("Can't Transfer") The reason listed under the Recording History is that the format is unknown.

Ok I finally forced so many connections that it updated the S3's Name. Now both units have names...

However, it still doesnt work. I get the same error. I now assume it has to do with the version difference between the 2 units. I have already requested the 9.2 for the THD so lets hope that resolves the MRV issue.

I got TTG working on both units now. At least that :)

I highly doubt this has anything to do with it. But its the only thing I can think off unless its software related.

Perhaps TivoPony can pass this on to the Developers/Testers and sheld more light on the issue for us?

I'm having exactly the same problem. I can transfer files from my PCs to either the S3 or HD, but I get the same format error if I try MRV. No fun.

I've requested the 9.2 update for my HD, but so far it hasn't come, and I've forced about a thousand connects with the tivo service. ;-)

I wanted to post back. When my HD was upgraded to 9.2, everything started to work correctly. So just get everything running the same version, and it seems like that will probably cure the issue.

I'm trying to transfer from my S3 -> my new Tivo HD
Both have the DVR Name properly set
Both are on version 9.2a
I've reset and forced calls multiple times.
I've tried to transfer both HD and SD programs.
I'm on Verizon Fios. Is this relevant?

I had only done this to the Tivo HD. I just did it to the S3 and it's now working.

Geez, they should make this easier to get working the first time. Oh well, I hope this info helps the next person to find this thread with the same problem.

I've forced connections and rebooted several times, and am still getting the unknown format error. I can browse the list of recordings from either machine, just can't transfer.

Could this be because of the upgraded internal drives? I have an S3 with 1TB internal, and an THD with 250GB (from the S3). Both are running 9.2a. The machines are connected by wired Gigabit network.

Both machines show the correct names and a,a,a in the System Information screen.

Any suggestions?
