Here's the deal...

Running 9.2 on my Series 3
Showing my Media Access Key
a, a, a
Even showing the proper name
Music, Photos & More shows my Pictures and Music

Tivo Desktop 2.5 running on my CPU

Forced connection and rebooted Series 3
Rebooted CPU

Still not showing my CPU in the Now Playing List

What's the deal?

It won't show if you aren't sharing videos.

Did you go through the process of setting up the "server" on the tivo box?

Did you set up the PC/server on the Tivo box? give it the IP address of the PC with the software running?

I do have videos in the tivo shared folderAre they .Tivo files?

Remember, files such as AVI, DIVX, WMV are not valid and will not show up unless you have Tivo Desktop Plus ($25), which converts those files to a compatible Tivo format.

I am able to access music and pictures that are hosted on the PC in question.

I went ahead and manually added the server anyway...still no listing of the PC in Now Playing.

Mpeg4 are tivo files...right?

Mpeg4 are tivo files...right?No. Tivo files are MPEG-2 (MPG) in an encrypted Tivo wrapper.

Problem Solved...purchasing Tivo Plus fixed the issue.

I seem to have the same problem so far.

9.2 is running and already shareing photos and music

I have encoded a file to .mpg using videora tivo converter, 720x480 MPEG-2, 29.97fps, mpeg audio at 192kbps, stereo.

Tivo desktop sees the video in the MyTivoRecordings folder and lists it on the now playing tab. My TivoHD does not show my PC in the now playing list. What am I doing wrong?

Is MRV/TTG activated on your TivoHD? That is, can you display a list of recorded programs on your Tivo?

As per TivoPony's post, Tivo only supports the functionality with files transferred from Tivos. That said, most of my MPGs seem to work.

It took a while for my computer to show up in the now playing list. I rebooted my computer again about an hour ago and it showed up on the Tivo. Tivo plus was not required. Just took a little time for the Tivo to enable access I guess. Just like it took a little while for the correct DVR names to show up in the now playing list. It's hard to rush a tivo.

I don't have Tivo Plus. I have Tivo 2.5 but on Vista & it is showing & playing AVI, DIVX & WMV files.

I was finally able to get it to see the PC and transfer a .mpg file. How stringent are the requirements for video resolution and audio. The mpg file I transferred was 720x480 at 29.97fps and had an AC3 DD5.1 audio track. It worked fine. There are already reports of higher resolution .mpg files working, but not all. Would be nice to know what MIGHT work if the stars align just right. Are bitrates important as well as resolution and frame rate? Are specific resolutions supported?

It doesn't look like this page has been updated for the recent activation of TTCB on the S3 and THD boxes, but it does have some MPEG information that might help you.
