recording hd channels in lower quality?

I've got some HD-only channels on my new cable service, and suddenly the Tivo is filling up with HD movies from my actor wishlists. (Jet Li and Jackie Chan on the Kungfu channel are the biggest culprits).

For the time being, I've added the keyword "-HD" to all the wishlists, to avoid recording the movies at all, but is it possible to record from an HD channel in SD quality?

(Does the normal quality selection of low/medium/high/best work here?)

Digital SD and HD channels cannot be recorded at smaller resolutions.
