If I have a TivoHD and a Dtivo (Dtivo is still subbed through dtv but zippered) can I transfer between them??

No. MRV on the TivoHD and Series3 is only compatible with Tivos running the 9.x software.

If it were going to work, you would have the hack the TiVoHD to remove encryption which requires a hardware mod (prom mod).

But even then, it seems like they completely revamped MRV as they required even the S2's to have a software upgrade, so I doubt the needed code is there...

I am not looking to transfer from the tivohd, just to it. If there is software for the PC that can do it, why not a hme plugin to galleon that would allow it through the hme interface since the dtivo is hacked...

If you've already got decrypted files from your DirecTivo, then simply stick the MPG in your Recorded Files folder. They should show up on the Tivo.

well yes, they are decripted, but they are on the dtivo.. remember this dtivo is still subbed and currently recording content... I am looking for a prog that I can stick on the dtivo that will allow the tivohd to see it..


Do you think it would be possible to...

if mfs_ftp is running on the dtivo, map that to a drive letter then tell the recording dir to look to that drive letter??

is there a more direct solution?

There is no possible way to transfer recordings directly from the DirecTivo to the TivoHD. Tivo to Tivo transfers require the 9.x software.

But you can transfer those DirecTivo recordings to your PC. If they are in the Tivo Recordings folder on your PC, they will show up in the PC folder on your TivoHD.
