Hi folks,

just found this community. very cool.

i had 3 Tivo S2's back in the day. when HD first came out, my cable system got HD DVR's before Tivo did, so I jumped on their bandwagon.

Once the S3's came down in price(with rebates recently), and the addition of the Tivo HD, I returned all three of my cable HD DVR's.

I was so sick of getting the "not enough space to record this program", right when it was supposed to start the recording. sitting down to watch the Colts game I recorded, only to get the message, "this program is currently unavailable".

Plus, the cable companies have NEVER heard of anyone having more than one DVR in the house, let alone two side by side, so Scientific Atlanta never came up with the idea to make a multi-frequency remote.

The ONLY thing I liked better about my cable HD DVR was the ability to spell out words to search for in either a program name or it's description to find something. I'm not sure why Tivo has never done that.

so now, life is great. we have two brand new S3's and one Tivo HD, all with multi-stream cable cards from TW cable.

My wife commented last night that it was great hearing the familiar Tivo sounds in the house again...like and old friend.....life is good!

Welcome back. I abandoned my Comcast DVR this past weekend and couldn't be happier. It's great having Tivo back and will be even better once I get the external 500GB drive setup.

As long as Comcast doesn't roll out a fully functional Motorolla/Tivo box which makes me wonder why I spent $300, I'm really happy with the purchase.

I'm not sure why Tivo has never done that. TiVo has it! That feature's in Universal Swivel Search, at the bottom of Find Programs, if your S3 is broadband-connected.

I'm sorta in the same boat. Long time tivo owner, s1 (14hr), at&tivo s2 (the original s2), and I just jumped back on the bandwagon with a tivoHD. Now that they've added tivotogo and external storage.
I can't wait for my tivohd to ship.

Another "me too" reply... I felt so good giving back my rented Moto Comcast Box. :) There are actually a few things I miss about that DVR (such as being able to watch the currently tuned channel in a small window while surfing menus--and it looks like the Comcast branded TiVo box HAS that feature!!)... But it is mostly better being back full time with TiVo after all of these years! :)

Doh!

thanks a million minkster!

I had seen references to Universal Swivel Search, but never took the name to look into it. Fantastic.

also, tells me I need to maybe read my Tivo owner's manual for the S3 ;)

Acutally, no need to read the manual......just spend all of your waking hours logged into the forum!

TiVo HD really makes a lot of sense for many people. Boy, you even have multi-stream cards! :)

TiVo finally has a box that could move off the shelves, even more so coupled with MRV/TTG.

I may be unclear on what you're asking, but a quick & dirty Wishlist can do the same. Create it, do a View Upcoming Programs, then delete it. Of course, if it's a word you often care about (as versus a one-off), just keep it as a WL. I have about 50 Wishlists, of which a majority are looking for a word or phrase. It will find them anywhere in the Show Title, Episode Title or description. Even in the actor's name. I have a WL for hippo*, and it keeps hitting on Hippolyte Whoever. I finally, using the Boolean features of 9.x, added a NOT for Hippolyte (-Hippolyte).
