I've added hard drives to several tivo's to increase capcity. Now one of the tivo's that I've added a hard drive to several years ago will not boot. This is a series 1 directivo.

My question...can I just pull both hard drives out. Run a hinsdale how to upgrade on a new drive and drop it in? Do I have to find an image or anything like that in order for my subscription to stay in place? Not worried about season passes etc.

Let me say to start I know nothing about the lifetime subscriptions. Go to www.MFSlive.org and download the MFSlive-1.3b.iso cd and use that instead of hinsdale as it is new and upgraded. The fastest way to get going is to go to www.DVRupgrade.com and download the latest version of Instantcake and then get a new drive such as: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136185
then you can be up and running in less than 1 hour. After that call TiVo and tell them you had to replace the hard drive and how do you transfer the subscription. That should be no problem its the same machine only with a new hard drive. Make sure that you get a new hard drive because it will in all probability only last 5 years and then you will have to go through this again. If you use a used device you will have to do this again a lot sooner.
