I currently have two Tivos (S1 and S2) both on Lifetime Subscription
The S1 is eligible for transfer for $199.
I purchased a TivoHD that I can transfer the lifetime from the S1 to.
Would it make more sense?
1. eBay off the S1 and get $199 or higher (depending on how the market price) and use the money to pay for month fees on the Tivo (MSD6.99) 199/7=33months
2. Or transfer the lifetime from the S1 to the TivoHD and pay $199.
33 months for $199/7 and sell the S1 for next to nothing on eBay.
What do you guys think?
How much would the lifetime S1 fetch now?
Hows my logic on this?

Well, would break even period be considered 71 months?
$250 price for lifetime series 1 at ebay.
$199 transfer fee
______
$449
$449/7=71months?
6 years?

I'd buy a Big Lots S2DT and put lifetime on it....

I don't think that you'll find anyone even willing to give you $200 for lifetime on an S1 at this point, then have to pay the $199 to transfer it.
I would just keep the S1 and transfer the lifetime.

And just how would you accomplish this?

while a life time tivoHD $750Wow, that's pretty surprising. I stand corrected!
$250+$199= $450 for life
or
$300 for 3 years
I suppose that does still come out to be a good deal for someone that plans on using their THD for more than 4.5 years.
I'd definitely eBay the S1 then, and set the reserve fairly high.

Maybe I was premature, but my assumption was that he had an S1 that allowed you a grandfathered transfer...

Don't forget to take into consideration the fact that a TiVo with lifetime service will have a significant resale value for years into the future -- the value of that lifetime service declines relatively slowly. Once a 3-year contract is up, the TiVo that had that contract is not worth much.

you weren't premature at all, just a bit slow
The OP said
"The S1 is eligible for transfer for $199."
so there's really no need to assume anything.

I guess I don't understand your question then...
