I bought a used DTV/Tivo (not the one on the other thread). It will not boot past the blue screen. I suppose that it will need a new hard drive. Is this correct? :eek:

Is this correct? :eek: Do you mean the grey Welcome, Powering up screen? If you do then yes most likely hard drive is dead. If so I recommend buying the hard drive of your choice such as Western Digital WD2500JB recommended by Toms Hardware and using DVRupgrade's Instantcake to apply the Image. you will be up and running in no time with no hassles.

Tivo's don't boot into a "blue" screen. Is there a message on the screen? "Blue screens" typically mean that your TV is not receiving a video signal.
