Am I the only one still hanging?

I found FG to be getting better with each pasting week. I thought last night ep was the best so far.

I know it's done on the cheap, but peeps are always saying it's the story that counts not just pretty FX, and the story telling part of FG is just starting to kick in.

But hell what do I know, I liked ST Enterprise :o

Haven't watched the last 2 eps yet, not sure if I'm going to get around to it or not.

I liked the serial with Buster Crabbe a lot better. :)

I didn't even know the show existed. I was channel surfing a couple weeks back and stumbled across it. I watched it for about 30 minutes before turning channels. The Flash Gordon movie is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. I thought this TV show was lame in comparison.

I watched the pilot and gave up on it then. No Sold!

the only reason I still Tivo it is because of the BSG 2 minute commercial about young Adama.

I wanted to like this show. It had potential. I am speaking in the past tense because I finally gave up on it after the Hawkmen/Dactyl episode. The show does not make me care enough to follow it week after week. Give me the cheesy, campy movie from the early 80's any day. Hopefully, in a few years after people have forgotten this POS, an updated film will be made with modern effects, good actors, and most importantly, a good script.

The Hawkmen episode was bad.

Look like I'm the only one still watching. Guess FG waited to long to get to the meat of the storytelling.

Flash Gordon Revelations was pretty good, but looks like no one's left to enjoy it. :o

Same here. Just kinda Tivo it and watch it when there is nothing else to watch.

Not to mention spaceships, including an experimental one built by a guy named Zarkoff.

I mean, come on. FLASH GORDON with no spaceships?

"Let's do Star Trek without spaceships too. That'll fly, won't it?"

Come on. This is the story of the young Flash Gordon and Dr Zarkoff , they have not got around to buliding and flying spaceships with fire works stuck up its rear yet. :p

my roommate and I watch it - mainly for him as he remembers the old comic books and old flash gordon shows - i probably would have deleted the SP long ago if it werent for the roommate.

Well, the original idea is for Flash to be young, and Zarkoff (or is it spelled "Zarkov"?) to be older, and for them to start things out with going in Z's ship to Mongo, isn't it?

SlyLieChunnel once again cuts the heart out of a well-known scifi story.

While it's actually fantasy and not scifi, I'm already cringing over their upcoming Oz reimagining..."Tin Man". :(

The Hawkmen episode was a new low in television, but I'm still watching. It can't get worse than that episode, except for maybe the episode with the bug that made people so happy they'd die.

I am finally all caught up now...

I have to say, the show has really grown on me. Once I got over the fact that this was going to have little but names of places and characters in common with previous incarnations, I started appreciate it for what it is - a light sci-fi adventure with no pretenses. The last three episodes have been very entertaining, probably mostly because they have taken place almost entirely on Mongo. The Earth-based stories are just not very good.

I still think that the banality of Ming's bureaucratic evil is diminishing the impact of his character. It is more like East Germany than some other-worldly super-human evil, which simply isn't very compelling in my book. In one of the recent episodes, "Sorrow", he actually displayed some emotion and "real" evil when he killed a man with his bare hands.
I can see what the writers are doing with his character - it makes sense, in a way. I just wish they'll let him be more "stereotypically" evil too, this show needs stereotypes in the villain department too. :)

Also, in the same episode I think, they had a scene that was invoking the classic scene from the 1980 movie when Flash and Barin are reaching into holes into the lair of some venomous beast. It was a nice homage, and worked well.

I still watch. I actually enjoy this show more than Stargate:Atlantis. SG:A was supposed to be good and isn't very. FG was supposed to be crap and is, but not as stinky as I first thought.

I am amazed this wasn't put on like Showtime late and with an R rating, I bet it would have been a big hit. Even on a cable channel late, like part of adult swim or something, I bet it would pull in far more than those cartoons late do.

I'm either enjoying it more or have lowered my standards enough...

I second the motion to move it to Showtime and add nudity :D

I have a large number of episodes stocked up on the TiVo. I may get to it over the holidays, but it's very low priority.

Instead, I'm looking forward to the return of Matinee at the Bijou to PBS. They have an HD presentation of a restored Flash Gordon serial scheduled for their first season.

I really don't think it's too bad but it could use some work. It's gotten better since more of the sceens are on Mongo.

We're still watching. We consider it one of our "weekend afternoon" or "late-night weekend" shows - fluff that's fairly fun. I think Loren likes it better than me, though.

Unfortunately, for a few weeks we had some problems with the wrestling show before it running way over (we may have been taping a repeat showing, I don't remember), so we missed the ending of several episodes. So I've gotten confused on several of the main plot elements. Oh well!

I would third the motion but I don't get Showtime. Remember Lexx? Sci-Fi could punch it up a little more if they wanted to. Fingers crossed.

We've been piling stuff (including Flash Gordon) on the TiVo. We started watching it again a couple of nights ago. Either it got better after the Birdman episode, or I have gotten used to the campiness of it. I suspect it's a little of both.
