I am running Vista Home Premium and have been trying to install Tivo Desktop 2.5 but have had no luck. I had Desktop 2.4 on the same machine, running Windows XP SP2, until I upgraded to Vista. I have tried just about everything I can think of and all of the suggestions that I have found on this forum and on the Tivo Help forum. I have run the Fix24Setup application numerous times (including as administrator). I have deleted all Tivo related keys in the registry. I have searched my computer (including the hidden files) and deleted all Tivo related files. I have used CCleaner. But still when I try to install Desktop 2.5 I get a pop up screen entitled "Windows Installer." It reads,

"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel." (That's all it says.)

When I go to Add/Remove Programs, there is no listing for Tivo. I am stuck and have no other ideas. Anyone got any suggestions/advice?

I've tried to find a thread on this forum dealing with a similar problem but haven't seen one. If I have missed it, please send me in the right direction.

Thanks a lot,
Andy

For what it is worth, I am having the same problem installing Tivo Desktop on my Vista Premium computer. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Tivo Technical Support (both first and second level support), but no one could find a solution to this. I have since tried a number of different boot options at start up to see if there are any conflicting programs, but I still have no success. I would also appreciate any possible solutions to this. Thank you.

"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel." (That's all it says.)

I would reinstall 2.4, then cleanly remove it and try upgrading to 2.5.1 again.

As if it were possible to cleanly remove Tivo Desktop! Good luck with that. :D

After completely removing TiVo Desktop 2.5.1, search your windows registry for any instance of "{4E839090-3B68-436A-B3CF-A2A08C38DD26}" (quotes not included) and report back.
