Meh.
Is this the first time in years they had a premire before Treehouse of Terror?

Oh man, this was one funny episode.
"Homer, you smell like Chicago. Did you fly there on a commercial airline?"
"No way. Commercial is for losers and terrorists."
I had to pause it, I was laughing so hard. So wrong, and yet... so hilarious.
I really enjoyed the modified opening, too. The return of Plopper was great. :D
Is this the first time in years they had a premire before Treehouse of Terror? No. They've done this for the last few years, since Season 17 started in 2005.

The opening bit was great. Also loved the "attention customers, iPhones are now 20 cents" at the beginning.

Have they gone with the computerized animation finally. It looked different. It was somewhat topical with the iPhone thing.

I noticed some rotoscoping like they used in Futurama. Looked pretty cool.

"Is Uncle Fester still alive?"
This is a great episode, full of laugh-out-loud jokes.

Voice overs can be dropped in at any time, but it was funny.

I didn't even realize Simpsons and Family Guy premeires were last night.
Somebody please tell me football didn't pre-empt and they ran on time in D.C. so my SPs would catch them in entirety!

They were right on time in Miami. They have a 30 minute program called The OT which lets them show highlights if everything runs on time, and gives them a buffer if the game goes long.

They were on time in atlanta and I believe the Falcons-Panthers game ran later than the Redskins-Giants game so you should not have any problems. Fox basically programs NFL post-game until 8 pm unlike CBS and their insistence that 60 Minutes be seen in its entirety!

That is not rotoscoping. It's straight up cell shaded computer animation.

I haven't seen the Simpsons movie yet, but I'm guessing something happens in it that would explain why Springfield was all trashed.
Colbert was pretty funny ...

I liked it. Not among the best ever, but definitely a good episode.
I also haven't seen the movie, but I gathered that the different opening would have made more sense if I had.
Yeah, I'm waiting for the DVD of the Simpsons movie ...
but even if you didn't see the movie, the trailers really offer hints - Springfield being destroyed is one of them, plus "Spider-Pig".

My siblings really wanted ringtones of Spider Pig, so I made one for them for Christmas. ;)
