Transfer programs from TiVo HD to Series 2 non-HD?

Forgive me if this duplicates another thread. I went looking for a while and couldn't find my answer.

I'm preparing to get a Tivo HD for use with a new HDTV in my living room. I already have a single-tuner Series 2 (non-HD) hooked up to the SDTV in my bedroom. I plan to network the two TiVos so they can communicate with each other.

I'm not looking (yet) for advice on how to network the two TiVos, or the relative merits of various drive sizes or receiver configurations, but only an answer to this question:

If I record a program in HD on my Tivo-HD, can I transfer it to my Series 2 and watch it in SD on my SDTV?

(Or can I only transfer programs that are recorded in SD?)

The ability to transfer programs is not yet active on the TivoHD, but that capability is coming this fall. As TivoPony states in the above link, you will only be able to transfer SD recordings to the Series2.

Thanks for the link. Will my TiVo HD allow me to "down-grade" an HD recording to SD? For example, if I record something in HD and then decide I'd like to watch it upstairs, can I ask my TiVo HD to "save-as" an SD program and then transfer that file?

(The analogy I'm thinking of is when I shrink and re-save a digital photo so the file size is smaller.)

No, the processor in a TiVo is way too tiny for that kind of heavy lifting.
