Look what happens when you try to go to this site:
http://www.comcast.com/tivo

now change tivo to anything else and you get a different message.

The guy who posted about this on the Tivo stock board actually has been trying this link for a while, it only recently went from non-existent at all, to access denied. So there seems to be progress.

What exactly does this prove? That a Tivo web page is coming?

We all know that Comcast/Tivo units are in the works, have known for awhile. Maybe, just maybe the web site is being changed to something like:

"Coming Soon, Comcast/Tivo units".

WOW! :D

Clearly absolute proof that Tivo is coming soon to Comcast. Perhaps in 2008 even. Not sure why anyone with a Tivo already would care.

Maybe those of us who currently have S2 Tivos are weighing the choice of a TivoHD or a Comcast DVR with Tivo service. So, yes, people who already have Tivo DO care.

Becasue I have Directv Tivo with NO HD...D* does not have a HD Tivo that will work will all thier new channels...So good bye D* as soon as Comcast gets HD Tivo...

Same answer as above...because I have a non-HD DirecTivo.

I'm curious how this benefits any of us? If we're Tivo users we still don't get access to the On Demand stuff. If we switch to the Comcast box with Tivo we get On Demand but Tivo suffers from us not using their service.

Or will On Demand become available for those of us using Tivo boxes?

Drat! I was planning on heading out to buy a Tivo HD today so I called Comcast to set up a cablecard install appointment.

She mentioned something about Comcast "working something with Tivo," but it didn't really sink in and I have an appointment for next week for the cablecard install. Now I learn they actually might be a offering Comcast Tivo box down the line!?

Now I'm torn. Should I shell out the 300 beans to get this THD box now or wait a while to see if Comcast offers a Tivo-powered box as part of their package? If I knew for sure the Comcast/Tivo box was at least 2 years away, I'd splurge for the THD now, but any sooner and I'd have to seriously think about this.

(Let me add that I loathe the Motorola 6412 that I'm using right now hehe)

I wouldn't suggest waiting.

Rumor is that a few select markets in the New England states will get the software rollout this year and other Comcast markets will be rolled out in early 2008.

And, of course, that covers only Motorola markets since the Scientific Atlanta version of the software is supposed to come after the Motorola version is released.

Can someone who has Comcast HD tell me what the quality of their HD broadcast is? I currently have D-Tivo, but the only thing I get in HD is the OTA stuff. How good is Comcast HD?

In my market, the Comcast feed is significantly better than DTV for comparable channels.

I've just switched from Direct TV to Comcast and the HD is very good. Like others here I'm waiting for the Comcast/TiVo box but no one I spoke to at Comcast could give me an answer. The Comcast DVR isn't horrible, but it doesn't remember what shows you've just recorded and keeps wanting to record the same episodes of shows if they repeat during the week even though you set it to record only first run shows. Since cable channels often repeat the same show several times a week, you have to delete recordings almost every day.

This has probably been mentioned before, but I just noticed for the first time that there is actually content on that link now. It also leads to a page that lets you search to see if it is available in your zip code. It lets you put in your email address to be notified about when it is.

I assume that there's no news about when this might be rolled out nationwide?

Given how critical folks have been of the delays associated with the roll-out here in New England, I think they'd have to be idiots to provide the general public with any date-projections for subsequent roll-outs. In a nutshell, I think we've seen clear indications of why the cable companies are best-off saying absolutely nothing about when something is coming until they're absolutely sure that it is already there.

That has been there for weeks.
