Series 2 playback stuttering

I have a new model series 2 that seems to be o.k. on playback but after about 45 minutes it stops and then restarts plays a little more and then stops and restarts. Each time it gets longer and longer.

Could this be the drive failing?

First thing to check is the system temperature.

If that is normal, then it probably is a failing hard drive.
