I've been trying to find time to get to "Heroes" since it premiered last year. Now that school has started and my girls are going to bed earlier, I finally have some time to watch it. I've finished watching the first nine episodes (including two last night) and so far I love it!
Now someone please tell me the rest of the year is just as good.

Yes it is.

As good? No.
Better? Yes.
Heroes is one of the few shows last year that consistently delivered over the entire season. I think some of the later episodes in the season are absolutely amazing.

What MikeS and Skittles said....in spades.

Heroes got better and better as the season went on. Most definately its a series worth finishing. And if you haven't bought the DVD yet, I highly recommend it.

+1 And it's good that you're watching it in a row instead of stretching it out over a season. Ugh! So many times I'd watch an episode and think...They can't end it now! But what happens next????
My dog got tired of being kicked. LOL!
Agree with above.
Only 2 more weeks til the new season starts.
Can't wait.

Five Years Gone is one of the greatest hours of TV ever.
I'm doing the same thing, as I missed Heroes during it's original run last year. I find these serialized dramas (like Lost and 24) actually work better when you watch them all over the course of a few days or weeks rather than dragged out over the length of a tv season, when you tend to lose track of what's going on.

Like you I just started Heroes, I am up to episode 14 and yes it does get even better. I am starting to think the finale is going to be a let down. How could they top all the stuff already happening.

In a word: AWESOME! Great first season lets hope season 2 is as good!

I'm going to have to disagree here. I loved Heroes up until the last 2-3 episodes. It just seemed to totally fall apart for me and the finale was extremely underwhelming--so much so, I was actually a little mad at the end. I've never felt that way about a TV show before. As always, YMMV (as it apparently did with just about everyone else in this thread). :)
Don't get me wrong, it's still very much worth watching. However, just be prepared to be potentially let down at the end.

Not to spoil anything, but yes the last half of the finale was the only part of the season I felt was a letdown. But it was hard to get a good payoff with so much buildup, so I forgive them. :)

Certainly worth watching, but I enjoyed the first half of the season more than the second. YMMV.

Although I wasn't mad at the ending, I was also feeling like it fell apart a bit towards the end at the same spots as pcguru seems to be referring to.
Just don't put it up on a huge pedestal and you will enjoy the rest of the season with little or no letdown.

Well, they had to give us something to hang on to for this coming up season, so the ending didn't let me down. Also, you don't have to deal with the previews that always seemed to keep pumping up viewers for something that never quite happened the way the announcer made you think it would.

It seems the majority of you are pretty happy with how the season turned out. I'm hoping to finish before the premiere, but I honestly don't know if I'll watch right away. I think I prefer watching like this. I may wait a couple of months and catch up on something else I've been meaning to watch (BSG, Firefly are two).

I agree with pcguru, except I wasn't mad about the final episode. I do feel like the last few episodes became increasingly disjointed and incoherent as they started weaving the story threads in and out of each other.
Going into the second season, I also feel like I don't care about any of the characters outside of Hiro and Ando.

I had no problem with the last few episodes, but I did think the finale was a bit anticlimactic. It wasn't horrible, I was just expecting more; I think there are earlier episodes that were far more "mind blowing". After it was over I was like, "OK, that was kinda cool, but is that it?"

The episode titled "Company Man" is in my opinion the best episode of the season. Especially since I was absolutely convinced in the evilness of the "man" the episode focused on. Keep on watching!

Great thread!
I'm on episode 19. I'll be finished tomorrow. I gotta say that for someone who is VERY skeptical of new tv shows (thank the networks for that!) and won't even bother watching a new show I'm interested in until it's been picked up for a second season, I'm really glad I gave Heroes a chance. It's easily one of the best series I've ever watched. Reminds me of how I felt during season one of Lost. (but even better!)
I'm looking very forward to finishing season 1 tomorrow and getting into season 2 when it begins.
I've got a couple questions...
1. I seem to remember hearing about a spin off. Did that happen during the summer hiatus? Did I miss it?
2. The comic. I'm not a comic guy but I'm real interested in diving further into the world of Heroes. Is this all of the comics in one book?
http://www.amazon.com/Heroes-Graphic-Novel-Various/dp/1401217052
Where does it fit in the timeline of the show?
Thanks!

No. The first few episodes of the season were better than the rest. Overall, it was a very good show, but with a couple of exceptions the first half was definitely better than the last.

It runs parallel, with flashbacks.

As good? No.
I think the show peaked mid-season. But the later epsiodes are still good. The finale was disappointing though. I was hoping for SO MUCH more.

Echoing other sentiment: yes, except for the finale, which was disappointing. But the rest of the episodes were all top notch.

I just love how you encourage him by telling him the finale's a letdown.
Personally I didn't find it to be a letdown at all, ESPECIALLY the end. The end kicked butt.

I know! I loved the end because it gave me something to look forward to this coming season. I'm excited to see where they take it from there.

I liked the show a lot until, well, right *before* the finale. At that point there was what I would call a bit of a detour that for me deflated the finale a bit and lowered the value of what otherwise would have been a very good finale.
In all, I liked about 90-95% of the season. I did like it enough to buy the HD-DVD set though, and am trying to get my family to watch it before season 2 starts, or at least before too much of season 2 airs and they wouldn't be able to catch up. I figure they have roughly 3 weeks (give or take) to watch S1 in.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes:_Origins), it's supposed to air in the Heroes timeslot at the end of April through May. The idea is that they will eliminate the mid-season break and avoid tons of repeats by having this show in the lineup.

I thought as a season, it was fantastic... The finale was reasonable...not mind blowing good as I would have expected...
Many of the critics had declared that the folks from Lost needed to learn a few things from the new Heroes series... But in my opinion, as far as the finale is concerned, the folks from Heroes need to take a few learnings from Lost...
Still... Many thumbs up!

Maybe its because people have gotten use to those kind of dramatic cliffhanger finales.

I missed the regular season, but they had a marathon soon after I got a Weaknees super-sized Tivo. :) I tried to drag out watching so I'd have something to see more of the summer, but I weakened and watched as quickly as I could. Needless to say, I loved it, and though the finale had its problems, it was still damn good in my opinion. :)

I just wanted to pop in here and say... WOW!
Since I got tired of hearing everyone talk about Heroes and we never watched it when it was on, we've been brain-cramming ourselves watching Season 1 on DVD. We've watched 10 episodes (first 3 DVD's) and are really loving it!
We just need to finish watching it before Sept 24th :)

Almost done with disc 5. Two more discs (9? episodes to go).
I probably won't be done until Wednesday or thursday, but will be recording the premiere tomorrow night.
