I think we'll need more information - what is the exact and complete model number of your Samsung device, and what do you mean by "standard receiver"?

The only Tivo-related product Samsung has sold was a DirecTV-TiVo receiver, such as the SIR-S4120R. There wasn't anything with a "300" in the model.

Ok - that's a DirecTV receiver-only box, probably what you mean by "standard receiver". It should work fine with a standalone TiVo (anything except the Series 3, TiVo HD or DirecTV-TiVo integrated models.)

and although it can work with a series 2 DT Tivo, it can only utilize one of the tuners, so a DT may be a waste of money when a single tuner S2 can do the same thing for less.

well just spoke with dish,,,will charge me 500.00 to cancel contract.
so i guess i will suffer with this...but when my time is done with dish and am quitting,,,i will sigh up for cable and get my tivo back.
