Verizon STBwith Series 2- IR issues

I have TIVO HD working with Verizon FIOS w 2 cable cards- works great. My older Series 2 is attached to the non-HD Motorola QIP 2500 STB but I can't get the Tivo remote to control STB. Purchased IR cable but did not work. :confused: I'm at a loss- any other experience out there with similar situation?

Have you set up the remote control code on the older TiVo to control that STB?

Tivo setup has a guided process that does a good job at walking you through the IR connection, ID of the STB (as Motorola) and then goes through a sequence of steps to try and get the channels to change using the IR. My Tivo remote works on the TV but no success controling the STB. As for cross posting- my first time posting here and thought I may get a response under a different heading. Thanks for pointing that out since I was not aware.
