Except for Lloyd's humorous longing for Mrs. Ari's co-star in Y&R, well, just not that great of an episode for me.
It does set things up for the next few weeks/storylines I guess...

I agree, kind of a boring episode. They sure do focus on weed a lot on this show.

It's something I could do without, personally. I think, however, if not for the weed, some characters on the show would have absolutely nothing to do.

They were bickering too much for it not to have ended that way.

Interesting plot turn... Vince didn't seem to like Eric getting another client. I think he really liked having E all to his self. I think that will become a major plot point....

It wasn't a total loss. We got to see all those good shots of Mrs. Ari in her undies! And Ari is so wrong, that butt was awesome in HD! :D

I got the impression it wasn't her butt he was worried about, it was her face. HD makes a lot of older actors look . . . older. :D That was a fine butt though . . .
Also kinda confused on Johnny's condo. But they had to have some way of getting them all together; too many scenes are set around the breakie table.
I liked this episode. Enough variety to keep me happy. And yes, I thought it was telegraphed from a mile away that Turtle would end up with the ugly one (only in H-Wood would she be the "ugly" one).
And the pot smoking... that's prolly pretty true to life.

You have a bunch of twenty-somethings from Queens with almost unlimited funds and a lot of time on their hands? I think that's absolutely what they'd spending most of their time on.
Well, that and chasing p***y, which they also do on the show.

Really? I have always kind of liked her. To each there own I guess.:) FWIW She was in all of the "Scary Movies". I have seen her in some other things as well that I cannot think of right now.

Anna Faris (http://imdb.com/name/nm0267506/) is best known for the Scary Movie franchise.
From the preview for next week, it looks like she'll be around for at least one more episode, as Eric becomes her manager.

I think the problem with her is that she looks too much like Courtney Love, and consequently one can't help but think of her as a crack-smokin' heroin-bruised nonsense-spewing skank.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. She was way hotter than most of the girls I see around here in NYC.
She was really annoying though. That's the girl you only sleep with once. :)

I'm not saying they're a dead ringer or anything. But Anna's face definitely reminds me somewhat of the "good era" Courtney ... especially on the show last night.

She could play Courtney in the Lifetime Movie. :)
One thing stuck me as odd from the episode. Almost none of the things they showed in the "previously on..." montage had anything at all to do with the episode. Usually that montage is used as a setup for the episode, but this time they showed stuff like the business with Ari and the twins and Mary J, and the stuff with Gary Busey and Drama getting painted. Only they scenes of E expanding his management busniess was relevant.

Gotta admit, Ari's wife is pretty hot. The guys have an amazing place. Incredible view. Looking forward to seeing how Vince handles E expanding out. Vince has always been needy and I doubt he'll like having to "share" E.

If Vince gets jealous of E's success, that would be somewhat of a departure. He has always supported the other guys in their business opps. He's never been the type to hold someone back. He's completely carefree. Doesn't care about losing houses, cars, or any of the material add-ons that come with making lots of money. He just doesn't care as long as he can make the movies he wants. Doesn't care about the girls, except Mandy Moore. We've already gotten jealous Ari  I don't want to see serious Vince. I watched this episode for the second time last night. I just fast forwarded through all of the Ari scenes. They completely pussified him. I want him back running to the playboy mansion with his jammies under his suit. Still mindful of the wife, but running around with the boys.

Butter face. Maybe she's too JAPy for me or something. Or she sortof reminds me of a girl I dated for a very short time. Annoyed the heck out of me after I had to spend time with her.

I've only paid attention to them in the last few episodes, but the "Previously on..." segments tend to recap the necessary points of the ongoing plotlines, plus the significant events from the last episode, even if they have no further relevance. Case in point: the "Previously on..." segment from last week included the whole "furry" subplot.
I don't know why "Entourage" is unique like that, as the HBO shows I watch are usually good about sticking to recapping only the important plot points from last episode. Maybe it's because "Entourage" really doesn't have much of an ongoing plot (it's pretty much just 'Medellin' and Vince's new movie right now, and the last several episodes haven't done much to kick that plot along), so there isn't much to recap.
(Speaking of "Previously on...," I like to play the "which actor is going to say 'previously on Entourage' game?" each week. Smart money is usually on Turtle or Drama, but ocasionally Eric, Vince, and even Ari sneak in there.)

Gotta admit, Ari's wife is pretty hot.I normally think so (and still do from behind), but something was weird about her midsection. She was curvy up top and back end, but her middle was painfully, give that gal a sandwich, thin.
Of the 3 girls Turtle brought back I thought Drama was the big winner overall. Vince's gal filled out that tank top, but Drama's was much cuter.

I'm sure at one point Drama mentioned going home or back down the hill, I'm sure he still has his place but of course he's gonna want to stay with the boys. I think he mentioned "staying to make lunch" which indicates leaving I guess :)
Definitely a middling ep' but still very enjoyable.

BTW, I haven't watched soap operas since I was about 12 years old and my mom would be watching The Edge Of Night when I got home from school, so I really don't have any basis for comparison, but are the writing and acting on actual soap operas as painfully bad as the faux Y&R scenes they were shooting in the episode?

I thought this was a pretty average episode by Entourage standards.
As was pointed out, it will set up future plot with Eric's new representation conflicting with Vince, but for now, nothing too exciting.
I don't watch them, but if they're on in the background...yes, soap opera writing is craptacular.

Totally agree. I'd heard of her and thought I might recognize her, but she didn't look familiar at all and I wasn't impressed.
Can't believe the cop would just drive away and leave Turtle to fetch the weed from the sewer. Usually cops will sit there doing paperwork while you drive away. I actually thought it was going to be a trap to see if Turtle would go back for it.

Anna Faris was terrific in May and Lost In Translation.

Maybe it's just my past misbehavior, but I love all the effort the boys put into their weed. Acquiring weed, meeting weed people, finding new sources for weed, finding better weed, scoring chicks with weed, not wanting to throw your weed out even when busted... This is all real weed-related behavior, and I find it pretty funny. The writers just may be hitting too small a segment of the population with this stuff.
Also, if you want to check out Anna Faris at her funniest, forget the Scary Movie stuff and rent "Waiting". Beware that the humor is kinda gross, but if you can get down with that type of thing, you'll find it VERY funny. A friend described it to me as the movie "'Office Space' for people in the restaurant/bar business." Anna is beyond hysterical in this role.

Young and the Restless on CBS is the only HD soap I know of.
Only because I work here and have to build the HD log for it.
Never actually seen it, want to make that crystal clear. :D

No, those complaining about 'too much weed stuff' just need to hang out with folks in the entertainment business. :)
The weed-stuff is, to me, the most consistently funny element to the boys' life. But to each their own...

I don't care whether it's accurate or not. The problem is, it's not interesting to watch a show about weed unless it's called "weeds" I guess. I tune in to watch a show about a cocky actor and his entourage living it up in hollywood. If I wanted to watch people and their weed I'd just go hang out with my neighbor.

Right, so is taking a dump or sleeping. I'll go on the record and say I don't really have any interest in entourage showing vinnie sleeping in half the episodes either.

08-16-2007, 02:08 PM
What conflict/drama/comedy can be created from sleeping? Certainly nothing on the level of what's been done on Entourage when it comes to weed.
I don't get the venom. Should the frugal among us poo-poo the free spending that defines Vinny because it offends their sensibilities?
TAsunder
08-16-2007, 03:35 PM
It's not a sensibility issue. It's just getting to be tiresome as a repeated plot in the show. I am sure they also drink expensive alcoholic beverages too, but they don't spend a lot of episode time telling us the various lengths they go to for a bottle of amarula.

Awesome response! :) :)
I guess if you think about it though, they don't talk much about alcohol at all in Entourage-world. You don't see the boys getting drunk together. As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever seeing them drunk. I might be wrong on this, but certainly alcohol is not a huge part of the show.
Of course, I may have just forgotten because I'm so high all the time. ;)
A lot of people I've known over the course of my life who were heavy weed smokers simply didn't drink a whole lot. If you just want to alter your reality a little bit, I guess one could substitute for the other pretty well.
