USA will air Bruce Almighty this Friday at 4PM Eastern, per the schedule on their website.
Go check your TiVo Guide and you'll see that it lists it as Evan Almighty, complete with a synopsis and cast info.
Weird, huh? Has anything like this ever happened before?

A few years ago, Tony Scott remade "Man on Fire" with Denzel Washington. I've seen "Man on Fire" in the guide described as the remake but it was actually the original that was shown. I guess that's close to the same thing.

I've sort of seen it before. The times I've seen it though were when the mistaken show had the same title as the one actually showing (like in a remake or something).
I remember for certain seeing this when Alfie was still in the Theaters and one of the channels was showing the original (Michael Caine?) version. The guide data was for the remake (synopsis, cast etc.). I think I've seen it on other occasions as well because I remember a few instances of recording something and it not being the show I thought it was, but had the same title.

I think the unique factor here is that Evan Almighty is still in theaters, let alone that it's never been on TV. Assuming that by "a synopsis and cast info" you mean the correct info for Evan Almighty, it does seem very strange that someone wouldn't have noticed the mistake. I'm assuming there must be human error involved somewhere in the process, beyond just overlooking the error. Is the guide data normally in the database this early in the movie's existence (i.e., long before it's going to be on TV)? The error seems more understandable if the data was already there, but I'm somewhat ignorant on how all of that stuff works.

I've seen "The Island of Dr. Moreau" get mixed up between versions before. Cast and date shown for Val Kilmer remake yet original Michael York version was shown.

It does have guide data that matches Evan Almighty, listing Steve Carrel in place of Jim Carrey.

I've seen "The Island of Dr. Moreau" get mixed up between versions before. Cast and date shown for Val Kilmer remake yet original Michael York version was shown."Original Michael York version"? How about the 1933 version?
Of course, it's based on an 1896 book...
