View Full Version : Missing menu sounds

I was using my TivoHD last night and turned on my receiver to listen to the audio and turned down the volume on my TV. I did not hear any trademark Tivo "bee-doop" sounds while using the remote while watching a recored or live show. I would only hear the sounds while in the Tivo Menus. However, if I put the volume up on my TV, I heard all the sounds everywhere I'm supposed to.

My receiver is connected to the Tivo via Digital Optical cable.
My TV is connected to the Tivo via HDMI.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Remember you won't get Tivo sounds while watching programs with Dolby Digital. Tivo has no way to inject their menu sounds into the Dolby Digital bitstream.

AH! That's it.

Thanks!

So? What's your point? I had never heard that before but wasn't concerned enough about it to go searching.

I found the thread useful. If you didn't, all you had to do was move along

I found the thread useful. If you didn't, all you had to do was move along :rolleyes:His point is that there are guidelines that clearly state to use the search before posting a new thread to ensure that you aren't creating a thread on a duplicate topic. A very simple search could have led to this answer, and this thread wouldn't have been needed (thus keeping another, more valuable thread on the front page).

And yet you, and him, felt morally compelled enough to post in this thread, further bumping it.

The irony is just too funny :p

Let's see if anyone else feel's compelled to post in this thread, or if it drops so more "valuable" threads ('snort) can stay on the front page...
