My DTivo can play all the MP3's I have in a folder on my PC. I thought I'd get a little fancy and point it to my playlist folder as well. I have m3u files in there.

One of the playlists has 193 tracks, but when I select that the Tivo says I have 350. Upon closer inspection it looks like the Tivo thinks the M3U file contains another link to the My Playlists folder and puts this at track 183. I played track 182 to see what it would do after it ends and found that the next song that plays is track 1 in the playlist it finds first in the folder. Wierd!

Has anyone seen this? Should I use a different type of playlist file? Or should I not use playlists at all?

Play Options | Include Subfolders = No fixes this.

Still I'd like to know what the deal is. There IS no subfolder inside my playlist files.

Treat the playlist as a directory and publish it all by itself in TiVo Desktop. That is reported to work as well.
