I find this to be VERY interesting. New feature development on the DTV/TiVo platform?
I could have posted this in either DTV/TiVo or DTV/TiVo HD forums, but this says for S2 units, so I was not sure if the HR10-250's are considered S2?
What would be DTV's strategy behind this? I see none, other than keeping DTV/TiVo users happy, and perhaps a softening attitude toward TiVo in general. Which could be a strategy on its own.
Like to know what you "it ain't ever going to happen" guys think of this. If DTV wants to KILL off remaining TiVo's, why would they increase any functionality (however small), and perhaps extend their life?
***Sorry, just saw that this has been already posted***

Thanks to both for making us non DirectTV users aware of this. This is a move in the right direction for TiVo and I think for DirecTV as Murdoch moves on and liberty media takes over DirecTV.
There is an interesting note on tivolovers on how remote booking would mean they may activate the USB port (http://www.tivolovers.com/2007/07/31/directv-to-introduce-additional-tivo-features/) on DirecTiVos. That would bode well for TiVo and broadband features if they can add in DirecTV subs to those revenue generating features.

This is very encouraging news.
If DirecTV had provided an MPEG4 based HDTiVo I would have never left them. I have an S3 now with three years pre-paid, so I'll evaluate again once this contract expires and see where I can get the best TiVo experience and picture quality.

Sometimes the news is so good that it needs to be posted where a whole lot of people will see it. :)

You guys do realize that the extra features being included are already available to anyone with a hacked series 2 DTivo or SA Tivo, right? We can already undelete programs using TivoWebPlus and several other utilities. I've found the Recently Deleted folder on my S3 to be more of a nuisance than anything else. I don't really care much for the overlap feature that likes to clip programs that have a lower priority, but that's just me. We can also program our DTivos remotely using the gotomydvr feature so I don't see what the big deal is over the announcement.

You also realize that most people don't hack their DTivo though right?

Even so, the anouncement raises interest not so much for the features, which are already on the standalone boxes as well, but for the fact there is movement again on DirectTV support of TiVo powered DVRs. It comes at a time of ownership change so it deserves close watch.
