Our tivo was working fine until it just said "Powering up" while we were watching a DVD on it. Then we tried to open the DVD compartment and it wouldn't open. We had to pry it open with pliers and get the DVD out. Now it just keeps saying "Powering Up" and won't do anything. Any suggestions??

Hit it with a hammer and finish it off?
Pliers? Seriously...

Is it a Pioneer, Toshiba or Humax TiVo?
Check out the TiVo DVD Units forum for more help with the DVD TiVos.
There is a way to manually eject a DVD from a Pioneer. You need a straightened paper clip to insert into the "secret" hole on the faceplate. This will eject the tray so you can remove the DVD.
Good luck,

Once the DVD unit becomes inoperable the TiVo will not boot unless the DVD unit is either replaced or totally disconnected from the unit. In either case it involves opening up the unit and some disassembly.
