TiVo Screen Washed Out

Hi all... I sure hope one of you has seen this problem before... it's mystifying me.

About 3-4 weeks ago, my TiVo Series 2 Dual Tuner started showing images that are much whiter than they should be. They are really washed out.

Here is some diagnostic data that might be helpful...

1. The TV is fine, as DVDs look normal.

2. The TiVo has worked fine for almost 2 years up to this point and nothing changed as far as wiring or settings prior to the problem occurring.

3. The problem goes away for several hours if I restart the TiVo through the menu system or or power cycle the TiVo.

4. I have not actually seen the picture change to the whiter version. I just happen to walk in the room and it's washed out again.

Any ideas??

Need more information ....

* How is the Tivo connected to your TV?
* Does the problem change if you use different video connections to the TV?
* Does it matter if you're watching "Live TV" vs. a recorded program?
* If you rewind the Tivo, can you see where the video goes "white"?
* Brand/model TV?

It is connected using S-Video

I do not have the option to do this without some major overhaul to wiring. It seems that the issue is not the connection or wire but something within the TiVo itself.

No. It happens with any video coming from the TiVo.

* If you rewind the Tivo, can you see where the video goes "white"?

I haven't tried this. Will see if I can do this today.

* Brand/model TV?

Its a 31" JVC standard TV (not LCD or HD). Not sure the model. It's about 4 years old.

Also try replacing the SVideo cable.
