Using previously upgraded drives in a different model Tivo?

Hi, 1st post. I have a TCD540040 that I successfully added a 160 GB drive to in 2005. I have just purchased a used TCD649080 DT Tivo that I would like to remove its single drive and replace it with the two drives from the 540040. From some of the posts I have read, I have been lead to believe I can switch these drives then do a Delete/Clear and have have the TCD649080's chip sync/marry to the new drives and have it work properly, albeit without any recordings. Is this accurate or way off base?

No. You can only do this with compatible Tivo image files from the same/similar model numbers. Your Series 2 DT Tivo uses a different image file than your old Tivo.
