I don’t know if this is an error at Amazon or they want people to try their service. Either way it won’t last long!
Right now you can get the movie El Callejon de los Milagros, the most awarded movie in Mexican history for Free!
I just did it via my Tivo.
Probably just a fluke or something, so you might want to check into it quickly.
Check for more here (http://www.make-this-work.com/blog/?p=607)

I just did it too. For free, I'll give it a shot.
You can't order it from your TiVo for free, but if you sign in on the Amazon website you can send it to your TiVo for free.
This movie is free as well, also Mexican, probably not an award winner, though! Inspiracion (2001) (http://www.amazon.com/Inspiracion/dp/B000TGZV7W/):. Plot Outline: The story about a teen that falls in love and discovers his life is about to change. a film about wanting something and fighting to make it happen.

I ordered it originally, this am, from my TiVo. Maybe the changed that already?

When I read that what came to mind was that poster a few months back who first found the error with a download price of several $hundred dollars for a $5 discount bin movie.
I am in the processing of downloading El Callejon de los Milagros as well. But besides that there are some ok $.99 downloads I've been meaning to see like Catch & Release (and I just happen to have some credits, so it's FREE to me as well!).
One thing though. Online it says you can keep the download for 30 days but on Tivo it says 2 days or 24 hours after you 1st hit play.
I use Unbox sparingly because of billing problems, inaccurate information, and my personal experience of not being able to reach customer support, especially through email. If they would just correct these problems (a no brainer IMO) and keep the prices about where they are I'd probably be downloading several times a month. Maybe even several times a week during the summer re-run period.

If you rent it, it'll cost you - If you buy it, it's free.
You can buy it from the TiVo for free.

Both of those movies were advertised this morning as free on the Unbox home page. I saw the ad when I checked on the weekend deals, as I do every Friday morning now. The front page ad has since been removed, it seems.

Well, like I said, the front page ad is gone(and not in the Google cache), but if you search Movie To Buy > Lowest Price they both show up there.
Wonder why Amazon removed the ad. Seriously, this morning when I looked at the movies on sale for the weekend there was a huge ad just below the 6 .99 cent movies with the cover photos for both movies saying that they were free for a limited time.

Wonder why they would advertise it as a free download, yet charge for the rental?

I think I may actually have been paid $1 to take El Callejon de los Milagros. Before I "bought" it, I had "1 Unbox credit, totaling $4.06". Now I have "2 Unbox credits, totaling $5.06".

I had that happen the first time I used Unbox. I rented a 99 cent special and afterward I had two credits totaling $16. I wasn't about to complain.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on how they liked the Mexican movie.
Personally I didn't care for the story line. And I could nitpick about the subtitles. That and the fact it has full frontal male nudity but not so much as 1 female boob. :D
I found it interesting. I take it it's done kinda like a novella? I would have prefered a less dark ending, but I suppose that's just my preference.

I downloaded it yesterday and it was almost 4 hours! By the time it was done, we were in bed. We will watch the show this week.

Well, I "bought" both of them. I don't think I'll watch either, but maybe they're something my mom would want to see. As long as they don't charge me...

Amazon has been periodically offering free purchases of TV shows (Jericho, The Academy and Voltron [yes Voltron]) , but this is the first free movie I've seen.

Where are these normally listed? I've noticed the 99¢ sales that are usually on over the weekend, but hadn't seen anything free before.

I think some of them were listed on the right side of the main Unbox page and at least one was mentioned in "The Download" e-mail newletter. Right now there are 2 movies on the right side listed with a price of 0.00: El Callejon de los Milagros and Inspiracion.
Many times if Amazon is going to release an entire series, they will have the first one free for a few days to try and hook people on that show. Other times a network will actually put up a show before it airs on TV such as they did with The Academy.

They have something like that right now with Flavor of Love Girls (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PF3Q60/ref=atv_dp_ep_series/002-9488270-8319201?ie=UTF8&season=1) , but who wants to watch that?

I tried something that seems to have helped my download time. Right after ordering I did a service connection. Then when it was done doin' it's thing the download was in progress.
Of course it didn't hurt that I have a good internet connection and a gigibyte router with integrated switch. :)

One thing though. Online it says you can keep the download for 30 days but on Tivo it says 2 days or 24 hours after you 1st hit play.
TiVo sets the default keep until, it doesn't get deleted after that time but it is available for deletion as recording space is required. (!)
You can change the keep until date up to the 30 day max but you can not change to keep until I delete.
Once you start playing the movie it will delete itself after 24 hours.
Note that if you hit play a few minutes before the 30 day expires you still get the full 24 hours to watch after that.

If you missed last weekend's free Spanish movies (when I checked his morning El Callejon de los Milagros is $9.99) there are two new Spanish movies from Venevision available for free purchase:
Un Rey en la Habana (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TVNP2U/ref=dv_m_unreyhabana/103-1694837-8952639)
Hormigas en la Boca (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TK94YE/ref=dv_m_Hormigas/103-1694837-895263)

HELP! Someone, ANYONE! I have tried 3 times to download this free movie . I don't wanna pay unless I am sure it works. First time, didn't download. Aborted in 5 mins. Second time same thing. Third time ( in progress) it's been 6 days now and it's still not finished. What is wrong? I don't have high speed, I have basic cable hookup with my pc's. I have an older lynksys. I don't know anything about PC Geekery... My error is this in the tivo "to do " list...."Download type was unsupported." What the heck does that mean?? I am getting frustrated. Thanks.

Just got off the phone with Tivo.. they said to un-link my Tivo, then re-link.. try to download something else. I did this... chose the Bourne Identity..... it has downloaded exactly 5 minutes in 1.5 hours. At this rate, it will take around 50 HOURS to download ... that is insane. What is wrong here? I am really getting ticked off. I can just run to the store without the headache for a movie.. it's just nuts.

How fast are your downloads otherwise? Like if you download a large file from the internet, what's your transfer rate?
And how fast do transfers from your Tivo to your computer go?
HELP! Someone, ANYONE! I have tried 3 times to download this free movie . ...Hi. It is probably a space issue. I read in the other Unbox thread that the internet downloads do not always properly estimate the amount of space needed and the download will fail. Try deleting a few unneeded programs right before making your Unbox order. Good luck!

It is unlikely a space issue if it is downloading but going that *slow*. Sounds more like a network problem.

I talked to TIVO once again... the guy on the phone said that my adapter isn't compatible. I said WHAT? When I connected it, the Tivo said it recognized it and it's been okay otherwise. I then asked the guy why it works for purchasing movie tickets, etc.....??? I said it wouldn't work at ALL if it wasn't compatible. He said.. well...um.....well.....???
It downloaded Bourne Identity in about 20 hours.. and it downloaded Weeds in about 6 hours. It will not download that Mexican movie... or Bourne Supremacy... it just keeps "looping". It will download the entire movie after 20 hours.. then it clicks off.... and doesn't stay in Now Playing.. it just starts downloading again. It will do this over and over to infinity. I just click it off...and lose my money. Quicker to run to video store. I am wondering why some will download slow and others just loop on and on. Any ideas? It's a gamble that I don't wanna take. Thanks for the help. I only have about 8 hours of stored stuff in the Tivo... so it's not a space issue.

Like Megazone said, it sounds like a network issue. You haven't said yet how fast/how well your internet connection works, nor what type of adapter you have, nor anything else about your setup.
It's EXTREMELY unlikely this is a Tivo problem.

The first thing that comes to my mind from personal experience is a router problem. I had a Netgear 624 router that was dying slowly and giving me fits, which was compounded by frequent storm power outages and the router constantly reassigning addresses.
