RS TX20 outside USA

I buy a Toshiba RS TX20 in USA, I live in Brazil, but here don't have Tivo Service. :(
Can Toshiba RS TX20 work without Tivo?
How i can to connect to do setup?
TiVo accept iternational call for setup?
Is possible setup by computer?
Can i record programs in DVD without Tivo Service? :confused:

If you have a broadband internet connection, it can call home with it, with the appropriate network adapter. You will not be able to use the internal modem, as the numbers will at least be costly to call.

You can record and burn without paid service on that DVR.

As alway, my advice for those outside of TiVo service areas is to buy a generic DVR or DVD-R, or whatever is for sale in your home market.
