I know, I know! Another 30 second skip thread.

The new controller that came with my Series 3 does not set the 30 second skip.

I get out my old controller from the Series 2 and it works just fine.

Is this a controller problem or something else, possibly?

I assume this is not a problem for the normal Series 3?

Sure expected at least some response!

Tivo is sending me a new remote control, so we'll see if that's the problem.

I've noticed that I have to push the buttons on the S3 remote as quickly as possible in order to set the 30 second skip but it will do it.

With my S3 remote I have to press the buttons in a very deliberate manner. If my cadence changes then it doesn't work. You might also try pressing "Clear" as a prefix to the 30 second code as I read somewhere on here that that helped some people/

30 second skip is not a standard button on any TIVO remote. Everytime your TIVO receives a new version of software, the system reverts to the standard button programming. The "Skip to End" button is used for 30 second skip.

While you are watching a previosly recorded program press the following sequence <SELECT><PLAY><SELECT><3><0><SELECT> and the key is programmmed for 30 second skip.

Hope this helps.

probably not your issue, but just in case.....make sure you are not in kidzone because you can't set 30ss while in kidzone.

Everytime your TIVO receives a new version of software, the system reverts to the standard button programming.

Actually, every time your TiVo reboots, it reverts to standard button functions and you have to re-enable 30-second skip.
