I thought he was giving up too early. Apparently he thought so too. :)
It was a decent episode. A little arc movement, a little more background story, and even a little emotional growth.

This show is very refreshing. Enjoying it tremendously.
I'm curious, however, how long his pursuit of the information behind the burn notice can last. He seems to get a new clue in each episode. Also, if Michael is such a threat to the US, wouldn't the FBI start to wonder why he continues to let the bad buys live and get arrested rather than just blowing them up or something? At some point the FBI has to be clued in on the fact that Michael isn't credible threat to anyone except bad guys.
Will we ever find out what supposedly happened to cause it. Perhaps he got to close to something?

My understanding is that he is limited to Miami for some as yet to be named reason.
The FBI guys admitted that they have no idea why they are watching him, only that they were told to.

I'm guessing it's Fiona who arranged to have the burn notice issued, to try to rekindle a relationship with Michael. She was there in the beginning, turns up every time he turns around, and makes herself available and helpful, which is out of character for her with anyone else. His mom might have a hand in it too.

They stated in one of the first two episodes that if you stay in the city you were dumped, the spy handlers will basically leave you alone but if you leave that city, they will send every possible type of law enforcement officer after you.

Enjoyable episode. I was surprised he didn't go for the fake FBI informant earlier then try and get them to back off by approaching the lawyer.

I am really enjoying this show. It doesn't stay long on the DVR before it gets a look and that time is getting shorter each week. A great summer ride!

I like it too. I watch it the same night it airs, that's the sign of a good show.

It's pretty good, for sure -- almost as good as The Closer, though not quite IMHO.

Really like the show. I guess lack of TiVo/DVR in a hotel room and no slingbox is not always bad. I was out of town last weekend and started watching this because they ran all the first few episodes over and over on the weekend. Just finished watching the latest episode, very entertaining show.
Always nice to find something unexpectedly enjoyable. Especially in the middle of the summer.

Great show - so he has used a modified cell phone twice now for his undercover work.
Last week - to trigger a car bomb
Last Ep - to call on a motion sensor

He also used one as a bug. Was that in the pilot?

The cell phone car bomb .. yes.. very simple..
Motion detector to call out on a cell phone.... logic just seems to dictate that this would take more then a simple + / - wire hookup ...

Maybe if the phone has one-button speed dial it would be pretty simple.

i know why he needs to stay in Miami.. we just don't know why it was miami specifically. it seems this city wasn't really chosen at random.
And we need the story about why he was burned in the first place.
I pretty much remember from episode 1 when he finally went to talk to the FBI shadow to see what info they had.. they cut him off and said they had no idea why they needed to follow him, just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't leave miami.

My assumption would be that it is because he has family in Miami. Since his credit and everything else was ruined, he would assumably need family for a place to stay, etc.

Anyone else think that Gabrielle Anwar's classy schtick as Fiona is the best since Diana Rigg's as Emma Peele in 1966's The Avengers?

Cell phone is to Michael as Paper clip is to MacGyver.
Its as simple as that.

What agency did Michael work for, CIA? It doesn't make that much sense to me that they (whoever "they" is) would cut him off so suddenly and absolutely. Seems like they lose control of the situation that way.

while he did just ask his buddy for a copy of the notice, wouldn't it have been better to burn your last friend's request by asking him to find out who did it, not just a copy of the notice (he had to know things would be encrypted )
'but it's the spring formal!' Where did she get that dress anyway?

I figure its a way to get rid of all the cellphones that are discarded when you get your new one.
He could start the "Burn Notice Cellphone donation center"
p.s. I love this show too.

Really enjoying this show as well. It popped up on my Bruce Campbell wish list.
Moved to my SP after I saw the pilot.
I explain this show as kind of a hip Equalizer, but our hero isn't rich.
I had no sympathy for the snotty high schooler. Bad guys are trying to kill you and you want to go to the dance?

No. She's the absolute worst part of this show. They desperately need a new actress for that role. Why does she look like someone hit her in the mouth with a 2x4? Did she hire a back-alley plastic surgeon at some point?

She used the Plastic Surgeon from Escape from LA. Bruce Campbell played that doctor...

I agree completely. She thinks he is overreacting until people are coming after her with guns. She puts herself, and him in danger by her actions. It is a stereotype of the teenager in this situation though. I would have been happier if they had gone against type and wrote her as taking the threat seriously.
I really liked him finding the spark plugs in the school and fixing the car with them. How long was that vehicle under the car cover? It seems the battery was still good, and there was still gas in the tank, despite the layer of dust. Just a tad far-fetched.
I liked Brisco and Autolycus better, but Bruce does a pretty good job with this role.

Yeah, but they didn't need to go into any detail and show him getting greasy trying to fix the car.

They would not have been lying there on top of the tool chest at the school if they weren't the right ones for his Charger.

Couldn't disagree more. I love GA in this role. And the fact that she's capable of kickin' a** is a bonus. That cell-phone car bomb job cracked me up. Heck yeah, she disabled that car!
My vote for the initiator of the burn notice is Mom.

My guess: Dad's not dead, he was also a spy, and he put the burn notice on his son. They introduced too much crap with him this episode not to have it come up again.

I thought they brought up all that dad stuff to show he didn't have a great home life... which was a round about way of him becoming a spy...
... and so much more the problem that he is stuck in miami ... its really the one place he doesn't want to be stuck...
