I Have 2 Hard drives in my system now and I would like to go back to a single one but cannot find the single IDE cable. Can I use the double cable and just leave the second drive out? Or do I need to find a single cable?

You don't need the single cable, the double one will do.

Hummmm.. and then maybe not....


I can not get it to see the hard drive with the double cable….. I can take the single cable out of the other HDVR2 and it starts up ok but it does not like the double cable at all….

Set the drive to master, it should work.

I did and it still will not work.....
Put the 2 drives in it works fine,
put the single cable from the other HDVR in and it works fine.
Put new single drive on the 2 ide cable and no go at all.....


Oh well i will find a single cable i guess....

Try plugging the single drive into the other open connector of the cable. Some IDE cables are cable select, and will not detect the drive correctly if plugged into the wrong connector.
