Help Resetting a R10 Tivo

I am getting rid of an old r10 and failed to competely reset/erase the contents while it was hooked up to the TV, can I still do a complete reformat without going thru the menus? If not, can i just power it up and plug in video to the tv w/o putting the satellite inputs in? or will it not complete the startup w/o satellite ins?Thanks in advance.

Connecting the sat inputs isn't necessary. I believe you can bypass the startup message by hitting the TiVo button.
