upgrading dt tivo...HELP

my hard drive crashed on my dual tuner. i bought a 320 gb seagate hd to replace it that is not working. i have two questions.
1. i couldnt load the image from by old dt hard drive since it crashed so i used a different tivo which is not a dual tuner. will that image from the single tuner work?
2. it is stuck on the welcome...powering up screen. my jumper is on cable select. is there anything else i can do to check it or fix it.

You definitely CANNOT use an image from an ST tivo - completely different hardware/architecture. You weren't able to backup an image from your original HD? You might try to run manufacturer's diagnostics (or SpinRite but costs $) on the drive, see if you can repair it enough to get a backup image. If not, you can try image begging or pay the $20 for InstantCake.

InstantCake is a product from dvrupgrade.com which consists of a clean image/install program which you download and burn to cdrom. Then you boot it up in your PC with your tivo drive attached and it installs the clean image to the drive.
